Lюбов – Zміст Xристиянського Wиття “«Любі, любім один одного, бо любов від Бога, і кожен, хто любить, народився від Бога і знає Бога. Хто не любить – той не спізнав Бога, бо Бог любов.” (1 Йо. 4, 7-8)
Чеснота любові є не лише людською здатністю
любити, а й любов’ю, якою живе сам Бог. Oсь чому
така любов, як навчає апостол Павло, є більшою від усіх
інших ознак божественного життя в людині, тобто чеснот.
Вона є найбільшим Божим даром людині, який ми
отримали у Святому дусі “Любов Бога влита в серця
наші Святим духом, що нам даний.” (Rм. 5, 5, 1 Kр. 12-13)
Любов має джерело в Боговi: “Cе Любов отця, яка
об’явлена в Сині та подається нам у Dусі Святому. Хто
бере участь у такій любові, той стає здатним у Святому
Dусі. Lюбити Oтця так, як Його любить Син, і може
любити ближнього аж до кінця, бо “ніхто неспроможен
любити більше, ніж тоді, коли він за своїх друзів своє
життя віддає.” (Йо. 15, 13)
Слуга Божий митрополит Aндрей навчає: “Без любові
усе в душі є мертве, бо воля в головнім напрямку не
звернена до правдивого добра, яким є найвище добро,
а водночас і найвища правда – Всевишній Бог.” Віруючий,
наділений даром божественної любові, любить у Богові
людей і все створіння. тому любов до ближнього є виявом
любові до Бога: коли хтось каже: “Я люблю Бога”, а
ненавидить брата свого, той неправдомовець. Бо хто не
любить брата свого, якого бачить, той не може любити
Бога, якого він не бачить. І таку ми заповідь одержали від
нього: “Хто любить Бога, той нехай любить і брата
свого.” (1 Йо. 4, 20-21)
Божественна любов, якою християнин любить
ближнього, є безкорисливою, жертовною. Вона
виявляється у здатності любити навіть ворогів. Саме в
такій любові християнин показує обличчя люблячого
Бога, Який Своєю любов’ю спасає грішника, примирює
його із Собою та змінює його на віруючого, виправданого
у Христі. (Rм. 5, 10-11) Любов є змістом і мотивом усіх
моральних вчинків християнина. Ісус Христос навчає,
що в заповіді любити Бога і ближнього міститься весь
Закон. Через дар божественної любові

Love — The Substance of the Christian Life “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is
from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God
is love.” (1Jn 4:7-8)
The virtue of love is not only the human capacity to love;
it is the love by which God himself lives. This is why such
love as the apostle Paul teaches is greater than all the
other marks of the divine life in humankind, that is, greater
than the other virtues. It is God’s greatest gift to us, which
we have received in the Holy Spirit: “God’s love has been
poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been
given to us.” (Rom5:5, 1 Cor12-13)
Love has as its source God: it is the Love of the Father
revealed in the Son & granted to us in the Holy Spirit.
Anyone who participates in this kind of Love becomes
capable, in the Holy Spirit, of loving the Father as the Son
loves him. They can also love their neighbor to the very end,
for “no one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life
for one’s friends.” (Jn 15:13)
The Venerable Metropolitan Andrey teaches: “Without
love everything in the soul is dead, [for in such a soul] the
will is not primarily directed towards true goodness, which is
the highest good and simultaneously the ultimate truth, that is,
the Almighty God.” In & through God, the believer who has
received the gift of divine love loves others & all of creation.
Therefore, love of neighbor is an expression of love for God:
“Those who say, ‘I love God,’ and hate their brother are liars;
for those who do not love a brother whom they have seen,
cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment
we have from him is this: those who love God must love
their brothers and sisters also.” (1 Jn 4:20-21)
The divine love by which the Christian loves their
neighbor, is selfless & sacrificial. This love manifests itself in the capacity to love even one’s enemies. It is precisely in
this kind of love that a Christian reveals the face of the loving
God who saves sinners through his love, & reconciles them to
himself, transforming them into believers justified in Christ.
The substance and motivation for all of a Christian’s moral
actions is love. Jesus Christ teaches us that the entire Law is
contained in the commandment to love God and (prod. na stor. 3) (cont. on pg. 3)
