ASFAR IS NOW RECRUITING FOR 2020 VOLUNTEERS

Asfar’s volunteering opportunities include:

▪ Local

▪ National

▪ International; and

▪ Digital

Asfar is particularly committed to identify UK-based volunteers in relation to 2 new programmes.

However, can offer the occasional Digital and International voluntary opportunity.

WHO IS ASFAR?

Asfar is a United Kingdom Community Interest Company registered, social enterprise-based NGO.

Launched in December 2011 as a youth-led volunteers project, Asfar became an NGO in 2012.

Asfar has provided Development Consultancy and Capacity Building services since 2013 to fellow NGOs on a local, national and international basis.

WHO IS ASFAR?

Asfar CIC is a dynamic international NGO, established to provide opportunities for Young People and Communities in the UK, the Caucasus, the Middle East & North Africa and the Balkans through:

▪Reconciliation for Development

▪Volunteering

▪Education, Enterprise & Skills

▪Cultural Learning & Mobilities

▪NGO development & capacity building

Asfar also focuses on Women Economic Empowerment programmes; Gender Equality; and wider youth development programmes

TYPES OF VOLUNTEERING

Asfar has a range of volunteering opportunities – for our organisation; and as part of our programmes.

Such as:

▪ Formal volunteering in the UK

▪ International Internships

▪ Digital Volunteering opportunities

▪ European Solidarity Corps programme volunteering

▪ Social Action activities as part of an Erasmus+ programme

This current call for volunteers is for Asfar’s Project Volunteers team rather than a specific programme.

Asfar is seeking 3 types of volunteers in early 2020 to support our project and organisational management.

▪ UK Project Assistant Volunteer

▪ International Project Officer Volunteer Intern

▪ Digital Assistant Volunteer

UK PROJECT ASSISTANT

VOLUNTEER

A Project Assistant Volunteer supports the project team to carry out UK-based local and national activities as part of a wider international programme.

An example, would be to support the project manager to host a youth exchange in the UK or to deliver a workshop in the UK.

Monthly commitment: 10 hours per month*

*This may be higher during a youth exchange

UK PROJECT ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

❖Project support

❖Partnership support duties – local and international

❖Assist with the completion of project objectives and outputs

❖Communication with participants and key stakeholders in the UK

❖Assist with the identification of participants interested in a youth exchange

❖Social Media, Marketing and other promo activities

❖Administration support & other activities as appropriate

❖Potential travel to foreign countries opportunities – as a Team Leader or if eligible, a participant.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT OFFICER

VOLUNTEER INTERN

An International Project Officer Volunteer Intern supports the project management of local, national and international reconciliation and wider development programmes.

The International Project Officer Volunteer Intern is based in Sarajevo, Bosnia-i-Herzegovina.

The Intern is provided with a stipend to live off, as well as accommodation and a small travel grant.

Monthly commitment: Full time – 9am to 5pm, 4 days a week.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT OFFICER – KEY AREAS

❖Support the project co-ordination of International Development, Erasmus+ and wider programmes;

❖Support the delivery and sustainment through a network of the reconciliation activities transnationally;

❖Support the management of international partners;

❖Manage the Asfar e-Journal

❖Support the development of localpartnership building in Sarajevo, BiH;

❖Peer Mentor for young people based the 12 countries we delivery RESOLVE;

❖Support the recruitment of participants aged 18 to 30 years of age;

❖Provide key information on the different programmes to applicants;

❖Key project implementation/monitoring tasks in relation to programme delivery;

❖Act as a key communication channel with participants;

❖Coordination of Media including: Photographs; E-Film directions; Social Media and other Media activities to ensure key dissemination takes place;

INTERNATIONAL PROJECT OFFICER – KEY AREAS

❖International Reconciliation, Peace and Youth Work;

❖Active participation in youth exchanges;

❖Identify and track Funding opportunities and maintain our Funding Tracker;

❖Design projects and write Funding Application, specifically in relation to the Caucasus; the Balkans and the Middle East; and new regions;

❖Support in wider activities including: Partnership development; Business development; Marketing and Communications;

❖Support development of the RESOLVE brand and network;

❖Assistance in identifying new Development Consultancy clients, who could benefit from Asfar’s services;

❖Sectoral monitoring & engagement;

❖Other tasks as identified.

DIGITALASSISTANT

VOLUNTEER

A Digital Assistant Volunteer, is someone who wishes to volunteer, but on primarily digital or computer based activities.

This may be due to location or wider responsibilities which mean they can not be involved in local or international activities regularly, but still want to be involved.

The Digital Assistant Volunteer supports the project team to carry out a range of project-related activities.

An example, would be to design a Project Plan or to hold Skype calls with applicants interested in our programmes.

Monthly commitment: 10 hours per month
