Regression is a method used to find the equation of the best fitting line or curve. Extrapolation the use of the regression curve to make predictions outside the domain of values of the independent variable. Interpolation is used to make predictions within the domain of values of the independent variable.

Scatter Plots and Line of Best Fit

• The best fitting line or curve is the line that lies as close as possible to all the data points.

• Regression is a method used to find the equation of the best fitting line or curve.

Remember to write an equation of a line...• Find slope (pick 2 points)• Find the y­intercept using your slope and point. (y=mx+b)

*When putting in "years"  for your "x"values can be too big for the calculator, so make the first year 0 and rename the other years in relation to "year 0."
