Part of what we factor in to family services is the age of the child

WHO WE SERVE

CHILDREN & FAMILIES

BEFORE BIRTH BIRTH TO 5 YEARS 5 – 12 YEARS OLD

PrenatalSome of our

programs will work with expecting

parents, preparing them to become the

best parents they can be before the

baby arrives

Early ChildhoodSome of the most

critical brain development happens in the first five years of life, so many of our

programs focus on children and their

development before they enter the public

school system

School AgeAt five, most

children enter the school system, so our programs for

this age group happen outside of school, called Out-

of-School Time (OST)

OVERVIEW

Our programs are also aligned on need of the family

Now, let’s look a bit more closely starting with children and families …

WHO WE SERVE

CHILDREN & FAMILIES

SPECIAL NEEDS AT-RISK UNIVERSAL

Many of our programs support

families with children who are at-

risk for developmental

delays, and those with existing developmental delays and/or

disabilities

Some families are considered high risk

for developing issues, like abuse or neglect, so our programs work to prevent problems by helping families

build healthy dynamics

For other programs, our service are

open to all families seeking support, for example, Child Care

Resource & Referral is open to all families across

the state

Our programs are also aligned on need of the familyWe also provide our services in a variety of ways

IN HOMES IN COMMUNITIES AT OUR OFFICES

In many cases, we provide our services

in the homes of families, using

natural and existing tools in their

environment to support parents in becoming the best

parents they can be

For some of our programs we will provide classes in

community centers or other community

locations, and our out-of-school

programming, Happy Hours, works at the

schools

Some our trainings and workshops happen at our

offices, and one of our programs,

Maricopa Center for Adolescent Parents, is conducted onsite

at the Phoenix office

We also provide our services in a variety of ways

Because teenagers are in school, either middle school or high school, our programs for teens are almost always provided onsite, during regular school hours or before/after school.

Like many our family programs, our teen programming is multi-dimensional but there are areas of emphasis that are important to our mission:

WHO WE SERVE

CHILDREN & FAMILIES

We help families succeed

As you continue your journey with Child & Family Resources, you will start to learn more about the specific programs for families, and to keep yourself oriented consider:1) What age range is being

served?2) What are the needs of the

family?3) How are we delivering the

service?

Maricopa Center for Adolescent

Parents is a comprehensive

program providing

GED preparation, Parenting

Education, and Life Skills classes to young mothers

Most of our teen programs also work to build confidence,

self-efficacy, and other protective

factors that reduce risky behaviors

Some of our programs are specifically working to

prevent teen pregnancy by

providing medically accurate sexuality

education

We partner with teens to prevent pregnancy, school drop-out, drug use and suicide

One of the other big ways we support the success of families is by supporting the professionals who provide care to children: childcare professionals. We don’t use the term “day care,” after all, the day isn’t being cared for, it’s the children!

When childcare professionals are educated, well trained, and supported, they can make a life-long positive impact on children.

Within our organization we don’t strictly align the programs based on the person served. Instead, we align reporting and management along the type of service and method of delivery.

Again, although our programs are multi-dimensional using evidence-based methods of achieving positive outcomes, programs tend to be closely aligned to being either education, prevention, or intervention.
