Easter Sunday of the Resurrection
of the Lord April 16, 2017
Dear friends of Jesus and Brendan,
ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! JESUS IS RISEN! HE IS TRULY RISEN! On behalf of Monsignor Villani and myself I would like to welcome you and thank you for joining us for Mass this Easter and offer you our prayers for a great celebration of the Resurrection! This year we celebrate Easter together with our brothers and sisters in the Eastern Rite Churches ( includ-ing the members of the Nativity of Mary Ukrainian Rite Mission here at St. Brendan) and the Ortho-dox Christian communities. Together Is Better! As the earth renews itself each spring, we are renewed and healed by the power of the Resurrection. There is a danger that we celebrate without truly believing, and risk missing the great graces of this holy season, and so we pray for the renewal and deepening of our faith this Easter! He promises to be with us until the end of time... let's take Him at his Word and welcome Him in our hearts! We welcome all those who have entered the Church through Baptism at the VIGIL. Your baptism is the beginning of a Great Adventure of Faith and life in the Church. We are happy to make this journey with you and invite you to become active members of the parish and joyful missionary disciples of Jesus Christ! I am so grateful to all the members of our parish family and the many visitors who have joined us on our journey from Ashes to Easter and for our prayer filled celebrations of Holy Week. I hope you will pray with us every Sunday and join in the many ministries and activities of our parish family. A great thank you to all the members of our wonderful pastoral staff: Betsy, Bonina, Carmina, Frank, James, Sarah Jane, Vinny, Bonnie, Mary, Ariel, Ashley, and Luis, along with all of our minis-ters and volunteers for all they do for all of us throughout the year and for all they have done to make Holy Week and Easter so prayerful and beautiful. I am so privileged to work with you and to know you! Let's recommit ourselves to being a warm and welcoming presence for all who come to Saint Brendan... Thanks for your generosity in all the special col-lections during these Holy Days. I hope you will join us next week, on Divine Mercy Sunday, to sing the Chaplet of Divine Mer-cy at 3:00p.m.
Have a Blessed Easter and a beautiful week!
Peace and Easter blessings,
Father Peter

Make a Holy Hour.
Go to Confession.
Over the past few weeks a great deal of work has been done in and around the parish build-ings... The replacement of the lintels above the top floor windows on the parking lot side of the school has been completed along with needed pointing around the windows and between floors at a cost of $23,000. This project was paid from a recent small estate we received.
The replacement of the parking lot fence had to be moved up due to the danger of certain sections falling. This project which cost just over $22,000 was paid from your gifts in the Generations of Faith Campaign. The church bathroom renovation will take place in the fall after more money is available from Genera-tions of Faith. We are still working with Con Edison on our energy conservation project. All the lights have been replaced in the rectory and in the gym. The work in the auditorium and the parish hall will be completed soon. Some work has been accomplished in the church, but there are some problems with the fixtures in the ceiling. The money for this project is also from the above mentioned estate.
Please try to stay current in paying your Gener-ations of Faith Pledge and in helping us reach our Annual Catholic Appeal Goal. We can accomplish so much TOGETHER!
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
We are still in need of more volunteers to cover each hour as well as for many people to stop in and visit with Jesus during Adoration time. We encourage you to come a few minutes early to sign the Adoration book inside the Chapel entrance.

RISEN CHRIST FLYER Inserted in this week’s parish bulletin is an orange flyer with an image of the risen Christ. We invite ALL the members of our parish family to take one home and put it in the front window or storm door of their home for the duration of the Easter season, witnessing to who we are and what we believe as Catholics: “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song!” If you want more than one, simply stop by the Rectory and we will be more than happy to give you as many as you want/need.

LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Lunes: Hch 2:14, 22-33; Sal 16 (15):1-2, 5, 7-11; Mt 28:8-15 Martes: Hch 2:36-41; Sal 33 (32):4-5, 18-20, 22; Jn 20:11-18 Miércoles: Hch 3:1-10; Sal 105 (104):1-4, 6-9; Lc 24:13-35 Jueves: Hch 3:11-26; Sal 8:2, 5-9; Lc 24:35-48 Viernes: Hch 4:1-12; Sal 118 (117):1-2, 4, 22-27; Jn 21:1-14 Sábado: Hch 4:13-21; Sal 118 (117):1, 14-21; Mc 16:9-15 Domingo: Hch 2:42-47; Sal 118 (117):2-4, 13-15, 22-24; 1 Pe 1:3-9; Jn 20:19-31
