SHEPHERD’S CORNER

In today’s gospel, Jesus meets a

man with an “unclean spirit”. The man meets Jesus in the flesh

directly. We on the other hand meet Jesus through his representative in the person of the priest in the Sacrament of

Reconciliation. Jesus drives the “unclean spirit” from the man with the words, “Come out of the

man.” The priest does this through the words of absolution: “Your sins are forgiven.”

How does this relate to us? Well, each of us may have an “unclean Spirit” in us, meaning we have

something in us that keeps us from being the person we would like to be. Or perhaps keeping us from praying the way we would like to pray.

Maybe we wish we could love more than we do, especially in our own families or even be as

generous as we know we should be, whether to family, charities or even to the church.

We spend large amounts of time, energy or money, often on ourselves rather than on others

as we would like to and know we should. These so called “unclean spirits” may be our own selfishness or just not being aware of other’s

needs. And it is in these times that bring the light of Jesus through the Sacrament of

Reconciliation that opens our hearts to see our short comings. Jesus will take from our hearts our “unclean spirit” and replace it with the Holy

Spirit.

Your Brother in Christ,

Deacon Henry

Online Giving for Offertory If you haven’t tried our new electronic giving app (GiveCentral) please do. You’ll find it easy to use and you can set up your

offertory donations any way you want to. Many who have signed up for the 1st time are surprised how easy it is. Just go to www.givecentral.org and click on “start giving”. You can use St. Michael’s zip code, 21206, to find us easily. One new subscriber said: “I realized that the only checks I was writing

was to St. Michael’s. What a relief to have that out of the way since I signed up. Thank you for making it possible.” If you would like to sign up, but need assistance please call the parish office – we would be happy to help.
