Overview

InfoPrint Solutions Company, a Ricoh®-IBM joint venture, announces the releaseof InfoPrint ProcessDirector Version 1.3.1 product Update 6. With this update, wecontinue our expansion of the capabilities of the InfoPrint ProcessDirector backboneworkflow software. Packaged along with modular features including vendor-neutralinserter management, InfoPrint ProcessDirector is the premier modular, Web-based,workflow software for job and document management and control.

The base functions of InfoPrint ProcessDirector include the ability to:

• Receive files from z/OS® using Download for z/OS or AFP Download Plus, bycopying files to a directory defined as a hot folder, or from a command line printrequest (such as LPR) to the InfoPrint ProcessDirector LPD receiver

• Manage print queues

• Track the production process from receipt of the print file to final delivery

• Use a file viewer to find the pages of AFP or PDF jobs that need to be reprinted

• Interface with other application programs, such as:

– Third-party applications

– User-written applications



Starting with this release, new capabilities to allow maximum productivity of thesolution are announced as follows:

New features: Designer and Whitespace Manager

Designer allows you to seamlessly integrate your GMC PrintNetT compositionprocess under your InfoPrint ProcessDirector workflow, gain automatedmanagement, integrated messaging, full reporting, and total control of thedocument creation process. This allows you to make sure that you are managingyour work under Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and process control to ensure fullintegrity of your production print process.

Whitespace Manager is a new visual tool that allows you to take print-ready files,identify areas to search for whitespace, and create business rules that in turnautomatically insert images or text into white space during the print productionprocess. Utilizing Whitespace Manager, you can easily add your marketing oreducational messages onto documents without recomposing them.

New database capabilities

InfoPrint ProcessDirector (InfoPrint ProcessDirector) now allows you to choosewhether you want to operate using the product's embedded database, or use yourown installation of DB2® installed either locally on the same server as InfoPrintProcessDirector or on a different server.

Expanded support for user groups

Gain more granular control of user security by creating your own customer groupdefinitions and allowing your administrator to define precisely which groups haveaccess to which functions in the product.

Support for locations

Monitor and manage only what you want when you want by defining separatelocations for your printers, inserters, input devices, and jobs. Filter, sort, andmanage your operations and simplify your views in order to quickly find your workand productively manage your print and output operations.

Upgrades to AFP Visual Workbench tools

The AFP Visual Workbench AFP Editor and AFP Indexer have been updated toinclude:

• The ability to add text to an AFP page

• The ability to define the handling of banner pages that are in the AFP file

• More flexibility in finding PostNet bar codes to convert to Intelligent Mail Barcodes

• The ability to define index tags from data contained in AFP No Operation (NOP)records

• Support for double-byte character set (DBCS) data in index tags

Printer support

Printer support added for InfoPrint Pro 907, 907EX, 1107, 1107EX, SP8200, 1357,and 1357EX.

Copy a user

The ability to copy a user so you can set up standard preferences andcustomizations and apply them to new users with less setup time.

A minimum configuration for InfoPrint ProcessDirector AIX® V1.3.1 is a pSeries®server with:

• IBM® AIX Version 6.1, Technology Level 02, or later (64-bit required for MailroomIntegrity)

• One or more 1.9 GHz or faster RISC processors

• CD-ROM or DVD-ROM device

• 6 GB or more RAM (12 GB RAM required for Inserter or ManufacturingOptimization Features)

Software requirements

An InfoPrint ProcessDirector primary or secondary server can run under thefollowing:

• IBM AIX V6.1 Technology Level 02, or later

• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 2 or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server10 Service Pack 1

The Manufacturing Optimization Features require SLES 10. If you have arequirement to run Manufacturing Optimization 4 on SLES 9, please contact yourSales Representative.

InfoPrint ProcessDirector uses a Web browser to access and display the userinterface. You can access the interface from the system where the primary server isinstalled, a Linux system, or from a system with Microsoft® Windows installed. Thebrowser version required for each supported operating system is as follows:

InfoPrint ProcessDirector has a Web-based viewer that displays AFP or PDFfiles to assist you in selecting pages for reprinting. This viewer runs under AIX,Linux, or Windows and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0, or later. The InfoPrintProcessDirector Viewer is not available when using a browser on a computer runningAIX 6.1.

InfoPrint ProcessDirector can receive jobs for processing from the Job EntrySubsystem (JES) spool on a z/OS host using either the Download for z/OS or AFPDownload Plus optional feature of IBM Print Services Facility for z/OS V4.1 (5655-M32). InfoPrint ProcessDirector can also process jobs using any file copying method



(such as FTP, SCP) that can send files to a hot folder or any method that uses theLPD protocol for file transmission.

When installing with an existing IBM DB2 database, DB2 Enterprise Server EditionV9.5 is required.

The program's specifications and specified operating environment information maybe found in documentation accompanying the program, if available, such as aREADME file, or other information published by InfoPrint Solutions Company, such asan announcement letter. Documentation and other program content may be suppliedonly in the English language.

Limitations

• InfoPrint workgroup printers have not been tested with this release of InfoPrintProcessDirector.

• The step templates installed by the Inserter and Manufacturing Optimizationfeatures can only run on the primary server. If your environment includes InfoPrintProcessDirector secondary servers, you must tune those step templates to runonly on the primary server.

• Cannot add DBCS text to an AFP page

• Cannot display DBCS outline and TrueType font

Security, auditability, and control

InfoPrint ProcessDirector uses the security and auditability features of the AIX andLinux operating systems. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, andimplementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriatecontrols in application systems and communication facilities.

Server

Server is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. A server is acomputer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applicationsto one or more user or client devices. A license must be obtained for each serverregardless of the number of processor cores or partitions in the server on which theprogram runs or each server managed by the program. Where blade technology isemployed, each blade is considered a separate server.

Ordering instructions

InfoPrint ProcessDirector is composed of a base license, required printer attachmentfeatures, and several optional features. The instructions for ordering the baseproduct and printer attachments are contained in previous announcement letters.This section focuses on ordering the new optional features.

Ordering optional features for InfoPrint ProcessDirector

To order one or more optional features:

1.Select the product ID for the appropriate base product and operating system.

2.Specify the correct number and type of printer attachment features as definedin the previous announcement for InfoPrint ProcessDirector for AIX or InfoPrintProcessDirector for Linux.

3.Select one or more optional features. The rules for doing so are as follows:

– The customer must order one feature per base license for each server uponwhich the customer will install the feature.

– There are no dependencies between features.

– There are no prerequisites or minimum quantities.

The process for ordering software maintenance is the same.

1.Select the product ID for the appropriate term.

2.Select the same features and quantities of features as specified under the baseproduct ID.

This software license includes Software Maintenance, previously referred to asSoftware Subscription and Technical Support.

Extending coverage for a total of three years from date of acquisition may beelected. Order the program number, feature number, and quantity to extendcoverage for your software licenses. If maintenance has expired, specify the afterlicense feature number.

Terms and conditions

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference andconvenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transactionwith InfoPrint Solutions Company are contained in the applicable contractdocuments, such as the International Program License Agreement and theAgreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

Licensing

International Program License Agreement including the License Informationdocument and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs arerequired for all authorized use.

This software license includes Software Subscription and Support (also referred to asSoftware Maintenance).

Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance

The Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (Z125-7609) agreementapplies for subscription and support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) anddoes not require customer signatures.

These programs are licensed under the International Program License Agreement(IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance,which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of theprogram. InfoPrint Solutions Company includes one year of Software Maintenancewith the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period ofSoftware Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if



available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the programand an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephoneassistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well asaccess to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is ineffect.

InfoPrint Solutions Company warrants that when the program is used in thespecified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warrantyapplies only to the unmodified portion of the program. InfoPrint Solutions Companydoes not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or thatInfoPrint Solutions Company will correct all program defects. You are responsible forthe results obtained from the use of the program.

Money-back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the originallicensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days ofyour invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom youobtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whomyou acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

DB2 UDB Components

The program includes portions of DB2 UDB. You are authorized to install anduse one copy of these components only in association with your licensed use ofInfoPrint ProcessDirector, and not for other data management purposes. DB2 UDBcomponents are to be used only by the internal components of the program. Forexample, DB2 UDB components can be used as a repository for configurationinformation generated by the program and cannot be used to build or extend customapplications that store business data. You are authorized to install and use DB2 UDBcomponents only with and on the same workstation as the program.

Your use of the DB2 UDB components is subject to the terms and conditions ofthe license agreement which accompany the components except as limited in this

Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) applies

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, InfoPrint Solutions Company providesyou assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to)questions; and code-related questions. InfoPrint Solutions Company providesassistance via telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your informationsystems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours(published prime shift hours) of your InfoPrint Solutions Company support center.This assistance is not available to your end users.) InfoPrint Solutions Companyprovides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For additionaldetails, consult the InfoPrint Web site at
