Vinho Verdethis region, Vinho Verde/ Minho Wines is the largest Portuguese wine-growing zone and is located in the northwest of the country. the region is rich in water resources, being bounded on the north by the Minho River and the Atlantic ocean to the west. the soils are mostly granitic with high acidity, low level of phosphorus and low fertility. however, due to the action of man for centuries (construction of terraces and using natural fertilizers), they have become more fertile.
