For August, our series presents a great mix of veterans and rookies. William Oldroyd’s feature big screen debut, Lady MacBeth, is an unexpected combination of thriller and period piece. The other newbie to the silver screen is Kristen Tan, with her original and heartwarming take on a road trip movie, Pop Aye. On the other end of the spectrum, two deeply experienced and talented actors, Ethan Hawke and Sally Hawkins, anchor Maudie, just as The Midwife is by the great Catherine Frot and Catherine Deneuve.
