Supporting Details

The sentences that should support the topic sentence.

Closing Sentence

Sentence that should restate, review, or emphasize the main idea of the paragraph.

Conclude the main point.

What is the best invention of all time? Why?

Is ambition always a good thing? Can you think of when it might actually be harmful?

Do you think you would like to be a teacher? Imagine what it would be like, think of the good and bad aspects.

Good Topic Sentences

The best invention of all time is the oven.

Ambition is not always a positive attribute to have.

I believe that I would be an effective teacher to students.

Example

The best invention of all time is the oven. Without an oven many meals could never be cooked. The oven is a gateway to the happiness of families, because of its mysterious cooking powers. Also, an oven can be used to heat a house if needed. Without an oven, many families would not be able to eat delicious meals on a daily basis.
