Pastor’s Corner My Dear Friends, On behalf of the staff and faculty and other ministers of our parish, I wish each and every
one of you a very Merry Christmas! Amid all of the wonderful things you may be planning for today, please take at least a few minutes of solitude to thank God the Father for sending us Jesus. I hope all of your Christmas dreams come true! As you know, the Sisters of St. Ursula have
retired after many faithful years of service. The place where they lived, originally called the Bishop’s House from what I hear, has served the parish of St. Mary as a convent at times, and at other times, a rectory. From now on, however, it will have a new name – Centro Santa María. The primary purpose of this building will be to house most of the many Hispanic Ministries of St. Mary. Other ministries, however, will be able to use the space for meetings as long as they are correctly scheduled and there is space for the date and time they would like a meeting. I can just imagine the amazing wonders that will flow from that place, and for that, each and every one of us will be truly blessed! Again, Merry Christmas! - Father Bob

Here is a selection written by Joyce Rupp, entitled “What are You Asking for This Christmas?”
Hope,
the north- star in my soul, that it may always point me toward the Light of the World.
Stillness,
to sweep through my restless mind, emptying it of the cluttered debris and floating negativity.
Non-violence,
That every thought, word, deed and desire flow gently from me like a brook caressing unmovable stones.
Savoring,
To remember with gratefulness moments of beauty and people’s goodwill that prompted gladness.
Other-Centeredness
for the tightly held part of self That ignores, denies or refuses to respond to the plight of others.
Laughter,
to retain the sprightly dance of joy amid the endless duties, preparations, chores, and responsibilities.
Perspective, for an inner vision the views
each difficult person or situation through the wide lens of kindness. Solace,
to recognize, welcome and embrace what yearns for attention and comfort in the sanctuary of my soul.
Surprise, so the celebration of Christmas rekindles awe and gratitude
for the Source of All Love, and influences how I live.
May you receive enriching and fruitful gifts this Christmas.

The College of Consultors for the Diocese of Raleigh convened to elect a Dioc-esan Administrator to serve the Diocese until a new Bishop is appointed by the Holy Father. After prayer and discernment, they have elected Mon-signor Michael P. Shugrue who accepted the position and will lead day
-to-day operations. Monsignor Shugrue is a retired priest of the Diocese who was ordained on May 19, 1966 at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Charlotte by the Bishop Vincent Waters. He served in parishes throughout eastern North Carolina, including as the rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral and spent 9 years as Campus Minister for the Duke Catholic Center at Duke University. Additionally, he served as the Vicar for Priests and Vicar General. He was named a Monsignor in 2000. Please keep Monsignor Shugrue in your prayers as we await a decision by the Holy Father to appoint a new Bishop of the Diocese of Raleigh. Background on the role of a Diocesan Administrator: The Diocesan Administrator is a priest who is elected by the College of Consultors and who is at least 35-years-old, known to be a man of sound doctrine and prudence such that he can oversee the administra-tive functions of a Diocese until a new Bishop is appointed and in-stalled. The Administrator has the obligation and authority of a Dioce-san Bishop and that of a Vicar General, with the exception of those matters which are by their nature or provision reserved to a Bish-op. Examples of those matters reserved to a Bishop would include the ordination of priests or deacons.
Nativity Scene at San Juan XXIII, Plan de Rancho This is a nativity scene in the Church of San Juan XXIII in the remote mountain village of Plan de Rancho where the pines grow alongside
the palm and ba-nana trees. This is one of the 87 churches of our sister parish which is headquartered in Reitoca, F.M., Honduras. Before St. Mary came on the scene, their little adobe churches washed away in every big storm. With our
help, the people now have a solid cinder block church.

St.MarySchoolAthleticsI am sorry to pass along that the annual St. Mary Golf Classic will not be held as planned this school year. Even with a lot of enthusiastic people wanting to have the fund raiser event, they just did not have the time to help organize the different com-ponents before the day of the event. We will look to next school year to possibly bring back the athletic boosters most successful fund raiser event. Let's just hope we will be able to find volunteers to help the athletic booster team, in our 2 fund raiser events next school year; our Luv 2 Run and our St. Mary Golf Clas-sic.
We’re Excited About Science! Just in time for Science Fair & Science Olympiad preparations, the
new Science Lab will be completed in December!
The lab looks beautiful but there are still lots of teaching materials and equipment that we need to purchase for the new space!
