Depending of your operating system :

1. For MS Windows: installation of a version of QGIS and all the

required libraries in one go (http://www.qgis.org/en/site/)

2. For Mac OSX: download of the GDAL library before installing a

version of QGIS specially built (http://www.kyngchaos.com/software/qgis )

3. For Unix-like systems: Package manager to download, compile

and install a version of QGIS and the required libraries from an

appropriate package repository (http://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#linux)

Once QGIS is installed, run it just like any other application on your

computer.

How to recover the plugin

from the online repository?

1. Plugins folder in the Menu

2. Choose the right plugin in the

Search bar

3. Install it

With the « netCDF Browser » plugin

1. Choose and extract directly

data (time, depth, variables)

without adding the complete

netCDF file

2. Choose a .nc file

3. Choose a variable

4. Choose time

5. Choose dimensions

1. Find the icon for “Add

Raster Layer” in the

Menu bar

2. Choose the .nc file

3. Choose one or

several variables

With « Add Raster Layer » tool from the toolbar

1. In the toolbar, open the Raster

tab

2. Open the Raster Calculator to

see the contents and to extract

data from a netCDF file

imported with the “Add Raster

Layer”

3. Choose the band you need to

extract by double clicking on

4. Enter a result file for the new

output layer (format : gtiff)

5. Add result to the canvas
