1 January - New Year's Day
It is one the most favourite holidays in Ukraine
People decorate the New Year Tree and dance near it
Children believe that Father Frost comes this night and puts gifts
under the New Year tree
7 January - Christmas
is a Christian holiday celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ
On January 6th, Christmas Eve, many families gather for Sviata
Vecheria (Holy Supper)
Kutia is traditionally served at the Ukrainian Christmas dinner table
Children go from one house to another, singing "kolyadky" and
"schedrivky"
8 March - International Women’s Day
It is a good tradition to give presents and flowers to women on this day
Some families celebrate the 8th of March going to the theatres or concerts
Others prefer to invite guests and stay at home
is the most important religious holiday
April - May - Easter
People celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
The women bake “paska” (Easter bread) and colour Easter eggs
The traditional greeting on this day is: "Khrystos Voskres!" (Christ is arisen) and the answer "Voyistynu Voskres!"
