The genres of music represented in my magazine are:

Rock Pop/Punk Alternative Rock

Because my target audience is youngerpeople they want to keep up to date with allthe new music that’s coming out so as well as having established bands, the majority will beup and coming artists.

As my magazine is mostly aimed at boys the house colours are:

Black Dark red Grey White. These are all plain, dark colours as they appeal to

this audience. Also, because my layout for each page will be quite simple these colours compliment it as they’re simple colours. These house colours are repeated throughout my features page.

As I stated before my layout is simple and organised. The text is ordered into columns in a question and answer style so that it’s easier to read as my target audience would most likely only have the time and attention span to skim read articles.

In my features page I use an informal mode of address. To create this style I used catchy and humorous language with lots of slang.

Also, the artists are addressed on a first name basis so it makes the reader feel closer to the artists.

Mostly all the text in the features page is sans-serif as it’s quite masculine and ties in with the fact that the idea of the layout is to be simple.

I re-use the same font throughout the features page as it creates a brand identity.

Also I use effects on my font like drop shadow and I also use text position (such as putting my text at an angle) to make it more original.

I use high quality images but they also have a playful side to them. Different types of shots are used throughout the magazine so it’s not all pictures taken in the studio, there’s also spontaneous backstage photos and live photos. These change depending on what type of article it is.

My features page is taken up mostly by an image which is placed on the right hand side which is where the eye is generally drawn to. Also, the text is wrapped around the picture to fully show the importance of the image in the features page.

I chose this layout because it looks more professional and it makes the layout less cluttered so it’s easier to read as it suits my ‘ideal reader’.
