I used a different kind of font for the name of the magazine to create a brand identity like the one in Empire magazine. The tagline ‘The new alternative Film magazine’ gives people more details on what the magazine is and what type of films it would feature.

I alluded to an ezine that the magazine comes from to get the attention of the digital natives and people who frequent the internet. The internet is arguably the future of the media, so a print magazine spreading from an online magazine seems to be the way media is heading.

The image of a police officer on the front cover raises awareness and interest for my film and could entice my audience into looking at my magazine as it could stand out. The convention of a person in the foreground of a front cover has been followed, with more scene setting in the background of the picture.

I added extra information about other articles in the magazine, following the convention of magazines, however I decided to follow the idea of Empire magazine, which only has a small amount of information about other things on most of its covers.I did this so that the text wouldn’t detract too much from the impact of the picture on the magazine. The titles of the articles relate to the tone of the magazine as well, because I feel this magazine would be independent and not really follow the same types of things that magazines like Total Film and Empire do, so I have created a niche magazine.

I added a banner to the bottom section of the magazine to tell readers what the main feature in the magazine would be about. I used colours to fit with the film poster, and I continued the style of the rest of the cover as well.I also claimed the article to be exclusive as in this time of extremely open news and the bloggers writing about films when anyone can write anything, exclusivity is vital in the sale of magazines.

I added this section with a picture at the bottom to entice readers and keep their attention by making other things for people to look at, to make the front cover more visually interesting. I continued on the theme of independence by not mentioning a well known director, so the readers would think that they are ahead of others by knowing about a ‘new’ director. This gives film enthusiasts a chance for extra information.
