Shot One
This is a wide shot, within this scene it is used to introduce what is about to happen and lasts about 3 seconds
This shot is quite short as it is only uses to set the scene and give the audience an idea of what is happening.
Shot Two
This is a behind the shoulder shot of Sarah talking to her daughter after leaving the white water rafting scene.
This shot lasts for about 2 seconds
Again, this is a short shot as it is only used to set the scene for the audience
Shot Three
This is a point of view shot, we see things from the perspective of Sarah’s young daughter.
This shot lasts around 4 seconds.
Shot Four
This is a close up of Paul, who is Sarah’s husband. It lasts for 7 seconds
This shot is made longer than the previous ones as this allows the audience to be acknowledged that there is something wrong.
Shot Five
This is a mid shot of the family and again this shot shows that there’s something wrong with Paul, as well as this it also focus’ on Sarah and Jessica’s conversation.
Shot Six
This scene comes from the point of view of Sarah’s daughter, the main purpose of this shot is to show us the upcoming fate of the characters.
This shot is one of the longest as this allows the audience to understand what is upcoming within the next few seconds.
Shot Seven
This part shows us when the van crashes into Paul and Sarah’s car.
This part of the clip only lasts for a small fraction of a second but by doing this gives it a big impact and makes it seem as if more action is happening.
Shot Eight
Within this part of the clip it shows us the poles from the van becoming loose and bolting towards the car
This part of the clip only lasts for a small fraction of a second but by doing this gives it a big impact and makes it seem as if more action is happening.
Shot Nine
This shows us that the pole goes through the glass, towards Paul.
This part of the clip only lasts for a small fraction of a second but by doing this gives it a big impact and makes it seem as if more action is happening.
Shot Ten
Within this part it acknowledges us that Paul was struck by the poles.
This part of the clip only lasts for a small fraction of a second but by doing this gives it a big impact and makes it seem as if more action is happening.
The four previous shots are very paced and only last for a fraction of a second as this gives the audience a realistic sense which makes the scene more effective.
Shot Eleven
This shows us that the pole definitely hit Paul and went through his head.
It lasts for 2 seconds as this is the ending of this climax.
This would be longer than the previous shots as it allows the audience to understand the results of the previous happenings.
