2012 Focus Group Feedback – Guest Policy:

Examples of Responses:

“The guest policy is unfair - can only have a guest sleepover 5 times per quarter”

“Not fair – the guest limit per month – trying to tell us who can spend the night is like high school –OK with filling out the form and getting the roommates to sign but there should be no limit”

“Visiting days – should increase the number from 5 nights – if you have people from out of town come to visit – it takes up all your days – not fair”

Chance for Change – Housing Policies:

• ADDITON TO Guest Policy:• If a resident is in good academic and housing

standing, they are permitted additional overnight quests for the quarter pending approval.

• Policy Change Communication:• This addition is now communicated to students via

housing orientation, quarterly floor meetings, interactions with Housing Staff and letters sent to students upon reaching their maximum number of overnight guests.

Page 13: Student Affairs Asessment Callenge

Chance for Change – Housing Policies:

• Initial Student Feedback:

• Based upon interactions between students and the housing staff, the initial response to the potential for additional overnight guests policy has been positive.

• More students have come to understand that this exception can be applied to them if they maintain good standing.

• Housing staff still maintains control over building guests and their impact on safety and security.
