At the Beginning of the second scene, the Man (Scott Parker) is represented as week, inferior and less powerful this is because of the fact that he’s head was facing downwards, this made him look very vulnerable and week and also showing that he’s status is low.

In this scene a man is also portrayed to be scared, this was also shown through the close up on he's facial expressions; we could tell that he is frightened and intimidated and the fact that he was kneeling down showed that he was a bit of a ‘coward’, this is because kneeling down is a sign of giving up showing that he is not in charge and backing down therefore letting someone else take full control of any of the situation at hand, this was against the stereo type of a male character and therefore this broke the convection because men are seen to be superior not inferior.

Later in the same scene the Role of a Male is then Portrayed by the same character. He is portrayed to be Strong and Bold. This is shown through he's body language and gestures the fact that he's standing up straight with broad shoulders shows that he is Bold, the fact that overhead-shot is not used shows that he is dominant. He is shown to be courageous and bold because he is looking around and shouting “where are you” this shows that he is brave. And the Bright light adds to the idea that he is very powerful.

In addition, the Mise en scene helps to build up all of this ideas; for example everything he’s wearing is black and he’s jacket is black too, The colour black is always seen as powerful and with authority, therefore this represents his character as a man, and men are quite known for wearing black leather jackets. All this representation goes with the Stereotypical role of a Man a therefore follows the convention.

In our intro a woman is not shown in the video but, the role of a woman is represented verbally, in our intro a woman is shown to be incapable and dependent, For example during the narration by Scott Parker, he says “I must save Stacy” this shows that Stacy cannot save herself, and that she needs help in order to help her escape from Scott Parker. The fact that she needs to be rescued shows that she is been taken away by force, which also shows that she is week, inferior and delicate.

This fits the stereotype of a woman because in the media women are portrayed to be delicate and also in need, and example of this is usually shown in Fairy tales when the ‘Prince Charming’ (usually Male) always comes to rescue the ‘Princess’ (usually females) so therefore our film matches this stereotype and it also follows the convention.

A supernatural is shown as someone who has above or beyond natural abilities. The super-natural character (Zion) in Broken Bonds is portrayed in a positive way. At the first scene the Supernatural character is shown to be quite scary because of how he vanishes. vanishing is usually associated with creepy, dangerous and malignant characters who are usually threatening in a film and most of the time their intensions are that of evil.

In the second scene ,He is shown to be a Hero type, He is also shown to be helpful for example; in the film opening after Scott Parker had fallen down on he’s knees he gives Scott Parker some Supernatural powers, which Scott Parker gains energy from and we can tell that the powers Scott parker gains is not of evil because in the following scene Scott Parker goes from kneeling down in pain to standing up with enormous energy and powers.

Zion’s face isn’t seen through out, which helps the audience to build more image in their head of how Zion looks like. In movies where the face of the supernatural character isn’t seen automatically makes them seem more scary and in order to follow that convention we had to make sure Zion's face isn't shown. Zion is dressed in all black , the colour ‘black’ is associated with power, death, evil, and mystery. Black denotes strength and authority. This supports the fact that Zion is powerful but goes against the fact that Zion could be considered as a good character because he is trying to help Scott parker revenge, but on the other hand promoting revenge could be seen as a bad thing.

In scene two , we can see when Zion gives energy to Scott Parker. This follows the stereotype of a supernatural character because a supernatural character in movies and is generally associated with magic or divine powers which is also shown in the film opening. In movies Supernatural Characters are either portrayed as a villain or a Hero and in our film he is portrayed as a Hero.
