Finding the Right Partner
The Right Business Partner
Find a company that is connected to your mission in some way: • Local company or small business that has an interest in supporting
the community
• Your cause relates to their business goals in some way • Supports children – toy stores • Environmental organization – sporting goods
• Existing relationships
• Look at existing donors, volunteers, and event attendees
The Right Business Partner
Look for mutually beneficial partnerships, not just ones that benefit your organization. Think about how your partnership could help the business meet their business objectives, including: • Reach new customers
• Enhance their brand
• Promote awareness
• Increase traffic to their online properties
• Employee engagement and morale
Things to Keep in Mind
1. Make sure the partnership is win-win
2. Trust is a must
3. Ensure you have common goals
4. Keep to your mission
Clearly Define Goals & Roles
Take the time to clearly articulate and define all goals and
roles of each organization to ensure successful execution.
• How will each party be recognized?
• Who is responsible for reaching out to media, other
community partners?
• What are the expectations around availability?
• What resources will each party invest?
