That’s 200 out of                                   1000 employees in your firm, who are about to walk out your door. If that’s not terrifying enough,                                   picture the effort and finances which need to be funneled in to recruit and train new employees only                                   to redo it all over again every year’s “migratory season”.

Retention conversations are important to any industry that hopes to plug this gaping hole of losing its                                 employees. Patients score with experienced specialists at their side, employers win with saving money                           and time over training and recruitment, while employees tend to be more satisfied with engaging                             with their patients and taking care of their patients. It’s a win­win scenario. 

Here’s what you can do to retain your staff: 

Initial impressions are vital: If you treat your employees with the same respect and dignity that you                                 intend to receive, they’ll return the favour. Does your HR department have career development                           mini­courses which can enhance your employees’ skills? Does the work culture reflect their                         enthusiasm? How do you incorporate your mission and values on to the new hires while retaining the                                 relevance in your veteran employees? Ponder upon this simple questions and you’ll get a fair idea                               about where upgradations are required to improve employee­management relationships and give                     them a reason to stay. 

Empower your staff: Do you provide tools to increase their productivity? In this changing economy,                             you need to ensure the staff grows alongside the organization. You need to ensure that your                               employees are marketable in their industry, which in turn increases their job satisfaction and loyalty. 

Maintain Effective Communication: Everyone wins when there is a system to maintain communication                         and ensure performance levels be constantly monitored. With consistent and constructive feedback                       coupled with constant performance monitoring to involve the employee to improve his errors is a                             great step to induce loyalty.
