To celebrate the bond of marriage there are various ceremonies that are stepped in culture and tradition of Muslim weddings. Every ritual in Muslim wedding is self-contained with uniqueness and cultural affluence. Fun, joy and laughter are the essential parts of Muslim wedding and each and every ceremony is made grand through celebrations and lavish feast. Wedding invitations and cards are distributed 7-15 days prior to wedding.

There are numerous pre wedding rituals which mark the start of wedding. The first pre wedding ceremony begins with Istikhara. Religious heads ask for Allah’s consent to perform the wedding in this ceremony. Immediately after this boy’s mother visits bride’s house with Imam-Zamin. It is either a silver or gold coin which is presented in silk cloth and this in tied in girl’s arm. After this ceremony there is Mangni, where in Groom family visits bride’s house with fruits and sweets.

There is Manjha ritual where in all the relatives of the bride apply turmeric paste to add glow on bride’s face. Bride is supposed to wear yellow clothes on this special ceremony. After completion of this ceremony bride is supposed to stay indoors till the wedding day. Mehendi function is celebrated on the eve of wedding wherein henna is applied on the feets and hands of the bride which gives an added beauty and color to the bride on the day of wedding.
