NOTESComfort you My People:

YHWH (Yahuah) is the hebrew name of GodRuakh is the hebrew for Ruakh

A nation unto YHWH יהוה (Yahuah)

Shimon Kefa Alef 2:9But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal kehunah, a set apart nation, a peculiarpeople; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of

darkness into his marvellous light:

( blue is modern translation)You, on the other hand, are “a chosen race , a royal order of priests, an ethnic group

in a separate category, a people kept back as His own possession, so that you maydivulge the excellent virtues of the One who has called you out of darkness into His

incomprehensible light--

Page 3: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

A chosen race: i.e., Y'Isra'EL

Yeshayahu 44:1-2.Yet now hear, O Yaakov my eved; and Y'Isra'EL, whom I have bachar (chosen):

Thus saith YHWH יהוה that made thee, and formed thee from thewomb, [which]will help thee; al-tira (fear not), O Yaakov, my eved; and thou,

Yesurun, whom I have bachar (chosen

So now, listen, Yaaqov, My servant, and Y'Isra'EL (I have chosen him)! This is whatYHWH יהוה , Your Maker, says--the One who formed you from the

womb, [who] will help you: "Do not be afraid, My servant Yaaqov, or Yeshurun (Ihave chosen him), Yeshurun: "the one who will be upright",

Yeshurun a pet name YHWH יהוה had for Y'Isra'EL when all twelvetribes were together and united.Called: summoned or invited. Royal order of priests:

Aramaic, that serves as a priest for the Kingdom. People kept back: Aramaic, arescued congregation

Shemot 19:6And ye shall be unto Me a Mamlakah Kohenim, and an Kadosh nation. These [are]

the Devarim which thou shalt speak unto the Benai YY'Isra'EL.

and you shall become for Me a kingdom of priests, a separated nation.' These are thewords which you must speak to the descendants of Y'Isra'EL.

A separated nation: in a class of its own. The very idea calls for judgment, because to separate we must discriminate between different things. We cannot just accept

anything. This is not popular today, but if we are not comfortable with it, we must become so by practicing it! Those who refuse to judge or be judged can by definition

never be set apart. As He prepares to bring her into the covenant of betrothal at Sinai, He wants her to have no doubt that He loves no one but her. He came to Egypt to get her, but did not stay; there were other Elohiyim in place there. He fought them for her, but has now carried her to His own home. (At this time, Sinai was His special

dwelling place.) Since Yahu(ah)shua sent envoys to gather the lost sheep of the House of Y'Isra'EL back into covenant through his blood, the same holds true for us . Priests: to help others approach YHWH יהוה . Y'Isra'EL had its own priests (literally,

officiators), but as YHWH יהוה 's firstborn, the entire people was called to be apriest, or light to the nations. We officiate on His behalf, not our own—not even forthe sake of Y'Isra'EL as such, but for the sake of Tzion, which is Y'Isra'EL as joinedtogether with YHWH יהוה . And this is not a prophecy or a promise, but a command.

It will not just fall into place if we wait long enough; we have to dowhat must be cone (v. 5) to make it a reality.

Page 4: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Devarim 7:6For thou [art] Am Kodesh unto YHWH ) יהוה יהוה Eloheicha: YHWH ( יהוה

Eloheicha hath chosen thee to be Am Segullah (Treasured People) unto himself, above all people that [are] upon ha panim Adamahah.

because you are a people set apart to your Elohiyim; you are the nation YHWH יהוה your Elohiyim has chosen to be an especially-valued treasure out of all

the nations that are on the face of the earth.

The "you" here is singular; He sees us as one man. Especially-valued treasure: Hirsch, “belonging exclusively to Himself". Others may be allowed to slide with such practices—elsewhere in the world—for a time, but not you, not here in My land, and not now! You must be kept cleaner than the rest, polished better than others, and not exposed to filth like some other vessels He had made. The door is open to any who

would follow Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach by walking in Torah.

“Many are called—but few are chosen”,

for only those who leave behind their formertreasures can be YHWH יהוה ’s treasure. Few end up actually being

the elect, because they do not follow the call they hear. Only as part of Y'Isra'EL canyou be the elect.

Kingdom life cannot be found elsewhere.

Devarim 14:2For thou [art] am kodesh unto YHWH יהוה Eloheicha, and YHWH

יהוה ( hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the ( יהוה nations that [are] upon the earth.

because you are a people set apart unto YHWH יהוה your Elohiyim. Moreover, YHWH יהוה has selected you to be a people for Himself, especially treasured above

all nations that are on the earth.

He does not want His children to do anything in a common way or live an"unexamined life".

We do not want to settle for just being a treasure to Him, but being a special treasure! Now Mosheh is speaking of YHWH יהוה more as a Husband than as a

Father. Being a special treasure indeed means that others will be excluded, no matter how they are grouped--an unpopular fact today.

Who?

Page 5: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Anyone who does these pagan things.

Y'Isra'EL has been set apart; that is already indisputably accomplished.

Our job is to separate ourselves unto Y'Isra'EL so we can actually be a part ofthat calling. As Mosheh said at Mt. Sinai, "Whoever is for YHWH יהוה come over to

me" ( to the Torah that he represents). It does not matter who your parents were; "whosoever will may come". But come you must. It will not come about by magic; we

have to immerse ourselves in His Word to so it becomes engrained in us. Treasure Him through His words and He will treasure you. Embracing these awesome

positions in relationship with YHWH יהוה also brings with it much responsibility. You cannot set yourself apart to YHWH יהוה without giving yourself away to the rest of

Y'Isra'EL.

The promise is to a people, not to individuals as such.

Tehillim 33:12Blessed [is] the nation whose Elohiyim ( אלהים ) [is] YHWH יהוה ; [and] the people

[whom] He hath chosen for His own inheritance

Blessed is the nation whose Elohiyim is YHWH יהוה , the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.

“Blessed is the nation whose Elohiyim is the YHWH יהוה .

” Y'Isra'EL was happy in the worship of the only true YHWH יהוה . It was the blessedness of the chosen nation to have received a revelation from YHWH יהוה . While others grovelled before their idols, the chosen people were elevated by a

spiritual religion which introduced them to the invisible YHWH יהוה , and led them to trust in him. All who confide in the YHWH יהוה are blessed in the largest and deepest sense, and none can reverse the blessing. “And the people whom he hath chosen for

his own inheritance.

” Election is at the bottom of it all. The divine choice rules the day; none take YHWHtill he takes them to be יהוה to be their YHWH יהוה

his people.

What an ennobling choice this is!

We are selected to no mean estate, and for no ignoble purpose: we are made thepeculiar domain and delight of the YHWH יהוה our YHWH יהוה . Being so blessed,

let us rejoice in our portion, and show the world by our lives that we serve a glorious Master.

Exclusively to Himself

Page 6: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Brings in to a force called a royal Charter of his laws which is an agreed covenantknown has a Brit

Shemot 19:5Now therefore, if ye will obey MY Kol indeed, and keep MY Brit, then ye shall be a

peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth [is] Mine:

So now, as you hear, if you will [really] listen within My voice, and keep Mycovenant, you will become to Me a uniquely valued [and guarded] treasure above all

of the [other] peoples--because all of the earth is Mine

Hear, listen, keep:

to leave out any of these will keep us from receiving the fullness of the gift Hewants to give us through His instruction (Torah).

Listen within: or " listen into"--hear the depths of what I am saying behind thewords, the Ruakh that lies behind the letter. Rashi said this means that if we hear

and obey once, we will be able to keep hearing and improve in our obedience.

The first step is the hardest, and as we get over that hump,

it will become easier until it becomes second nature. We must not despise smallbeginnings. To be able to obey in bigger things, we must obey in the smallest. Ifa child will not obey his parent, how can he ever obey the Torah? If a student

will not listen to his teacher, how will he ever heard YHWH יהוה ’s voice? A uniquely valued treasure: literally, sealed up and hidden away. Others may see us as

imprisoned in His box, “having to” do things not required of them, losing our rights, or being “under” the Law. But it implies being guarded to the degree . When

everything else gets stolen (and it will), Y'Isra'EL will not, because it is locked away in His “harem” (which in Semitic languages really has a positive meaning of being

specially set apart).

Belonging exclusively to Himself".

Deut. 26:18;And YHWH יהוה hath avouched thee this day to be His

peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that [thou] shouldest keep all Hismitzvot;

"YHWH יהוה has also declared you this day to be His particulartreasure of a people, as He had promised you, and [told you] to keep His

commandments,

Page 7: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Particular treasure: has the connotation of being a special jewel locked or securely hidden away from everyone else. This emphasizes the sacredness for which He had designed this "uncommon" people, who are not to be considered just another of the nations, an inheritance reserved for us in heaven Yahu(ah)shua said that was where no corrupting force from earth could affect it), to be revealed (on earth) in the end

times.

He calls us living stones that are precious to YHWH יהוה .

(here is a mystery in scripture open our eyes)

if you shall live keep the commandments

"I am YHWH יהוה your Elohiyim."

Devarim 4:13And He declared unto you His Brit, which he commanded you to perform, [even] ten

mitzvot; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

And He informed you about His covenant, which He commanded you to carry out--[that is], the Ten Declarations, and He engraved them in two slabs of stone.

The first of the Ten Declarations is "I am YHWH יהוה your Elohiyim."Stone: by tradition, it was sapphire, corresponding with the "plane" on which YHWH

s feet stood' יהוה

Shemot . 24:10And they saw the Elohiyim ( אלהים ) of YY'Isra'EL: and [there was] under his feetas it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in

[his] clearness.

And they saw the Mighty One of Y'Isra'EL, and under His feet was a [white] tileworkof sapphire like the essence of heaven for clarity.

Mighty One: Elohiyim in Hebrew, emphasizing the judging aspect of YHWH יהוה. The closer we come to Him, the more strictly we are judged and the more we are expected to judge others who say they want to come near. More is expected of the elders than

the rest; only one small mistake kept Mosheh himself out of the promised Land. Elohiyim’s feet are mentioned, and it was only the feet of the disciples Yahu(ah)shua

HaMashiyach washed when he ratified the renewed covenant in his own blood. "Sapphire": from the word for "write" or "inscribe" and related to the word for

"book" , recalling the Book of the Righteous, for "clarity" here speaksin terms of purity.

Yehezqel 1:26

Page 8: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

And above the raki'a that [was] over their heads [was] the demut of a throne, as theappearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the demut of the throne [was] the demut as

the appearance of a man above upon it.

And upward from the expanse that was above their heads, like the appearance of asapphire stone, was something resembling a throne, and on the thing that looked like

a throne was [one that] resembled a man when viewed from above.

A man: Heb., Adamah. Appearance…resembled…looked like: all terminology ofcomparison and allegory, not literal physical entities, though they are very real.says YHWH יהוה ’s throne itself is made of a sapphire. "Essence" here can mean "body", "bones" or "limbs", and "members", which immediately calls to mind the Body of the Restored (Last) Adamah, of which Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach is the

head, and whose feet are His Festivals and Kingdom. We are becoming His Body as the dry bones rattle back together and form the whole of Y'Isra'EL, those born and grafted into the one tree with all its limbs, bound together as the joints and sinews

findtheir proper place and begin connecting all the attributes of YHWH יהוה image embodied in each one. They will finally take their place with him in the heavenlies yet standing on earth, and then (the only permissible image of) YHWH יהוה will be

one (united back together) and His Name againone.

Zech. 14:9And YHWH יהוה shall be Melekh over all the eretz: B'Yom ha

Hu shall there be

ONE YHWH יהוה , and His Name Echad.

And YHWH יהוה will come to be King over all the earth. In that dayYHWH יהוה will come to be united and His Name [will only be] one.

” No other names for YHWH יהוה will be substituted. During thethousand years that follow, the full physical realization of the reunification of His

image in mankind (which was divided when Chavvah was taken out of Adamah andfurther scattered when they sinned) will be completed.Clarity: tradition says that

before Adamah and Chavvah fell, their bodies were covered with irridescence much like our fingernails, which would then be the only remnant of what was replaced by

flesh. and like which His throne appeared and the inscription went all the way through the stones so that when held backwards the gaps between the letters spelled

somethingdifferent. This reminds us of the contrast between "the Ruakh of the Torah" and theletter, the curse and the promises, the choice between life and death that it offers, and

the fact that long after sinful world is done away with and recreated and the sinagainst which it spoke is long forgotten, the Word of YHWH יהוה will still endure

Page 9: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

forever. There is even a tradition that in the Messianic kingdom, the letters of the Torah will rearrange themselves and, though all the letters are still present, it will present a different message for the altered environment to which it will still go one

speaking. Mosheh wrote the words of the Torah on the slabs after YHWH.had carved into them the instructions for building the Tabernacle יהוה

He calls us living stones that are precious to YHWH יהוה .

The whole people is the treasure. We keep His commandments not just for ourown sake, but for the benefit of all Y'Isra'EL.

A living tabernacle to YHWH יהוה . A spiritual house in a Spirituallaw, unto a spiritual king, and a Spiritual kingdom

Shimon Kefa Alef 2:5Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an set apart kehunah, to

offerup spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to Elohiyim by Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach

you too, just like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house--a set-apartorder of priests to offer up spiritual “slaughters”, well-acceptable to YHWH יהוה

through Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach

spiritual does not mean unreal or barely there in outline form. Just the oppositeis true; spiritual things are more real than visible ones

2 Cor. 4:18we do not look at the things which can be seen, but at what cannot be seen, for thethings which can be seen are [only] temporary, but the things which cannot be seen

are never ending.

but they are borne out in the physical realm, because YHWH יהוה has put the pattern right in the earth. We will literally draw the blade to animals. That is how we learn certain aspects of spiritual reality best. YHWH יהוה (He is) EHYEH does not call us

to blind faith, for He gives us proof of His deeds in the deeds

He calls us to do.

Shimon Kefa Alef 2:6Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Hinei, I lay in Tzyon a chief

cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not beconfounded

Because of this, it is also surrounded by the Scripture, “Look, I am laying down inTzion an outermost-corner stone, hand-picked, held in high honor, and the one who

[rests his] confidence on Him will not be put to shame.”

Page 10: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Yeshayahu 28:16Therefore thus saith Eloahi YHWH יהוה, Behold, I lay in

Tziyon for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner [stone], a surefoundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

Therefore, this is what the Master YHWH יהוה says:

"Here I am,

laying as a foundation in Tsion a building stone--a stone [that has been] tested andproven, a cornerstone appraised at high value, a well-established foundation;

whoever firmly trusts will not act [so] hastily.

The Aramaic targum says this "stone" is a "great, mighty, and terrifying king.Compare "The stone that the builders rejected has become the chief

cornerstone"

all the days of my life I shall DECLARE THE WORKS OF YHWH (YAHUAH).

Tehillim 118Oh, give thanks to יהוה, for He is good!

Because His kindness is everlasting. Let Yisra’ĕl now say,

“His kindness is everlasting.” Let the house of Aharon now say,

“His kindness is everlasting.” Let those who fear יהוה now say, “His kindness is everlasting.”

I called on Yah in distress; Yah answered me in a broad place.

;is on my side יהוה I do not fear what man does to me!

;is for me among those helping me יהוה Therefore I look on those hating me.

It is better to take refuge in יהוה Than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in יהוה Than to trust in princes.

All the gentiles surrounded me, In the Name of יהוה I shall cut them off.

They surrounded me

Page 11: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

, Yea, they surrounded me; In the Name of יהוה shall I cut them off.

They surrounded me like bees; They were extinguished like burning thorns;

In the Name of יהוה I shall cut them off. Pushing, the enemy pushed me to fall,

But יהוה helped me. Yah is my strength and song,

And He has become my deliverance. The voice of rejoicing and deliverance

Is in the tents of the righteous; The right hand of יהוה is doing mightily.

The right hand of יהוה is exalted, The right hand of יהוה acts mightily.

Let me not die, but live,

And declare the works of Yah. Yah has punished me severely,

But did not give me over to death. Open to me the gates of righteousness;

I enter through them, I thank Yah. This is the gate of יהוה,

The righteous enter through it. I thank You, For You have answered me,

And have become my deliverance. The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner-stone.

This was from יהוה, It is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day יהוה has made,

Let us rejoice and be glad in it. I pray, O יהוה,

please save; I pray, O יהוה,

please send prosperity. Blessed is He who is coming in the Name of 1יהוה

We shall bless you from the House of יהוה. ;is Ěl, and He gave us light יהוה

Bind the festal offering With cords to the horns of the altar. You are my Ěl, and I praise You;

You are my Elohiyim, I exalt You.

Give thanks to יהוה, for He is good!

Page 12: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

For His kindness is everlasting.

It is the HaMashiyach

Act hastily: Aramaic, "be shaken whendistress comes". Put to shame: Heb., hurry about in a confused way.

Shimon Kefa 2:7Unto you therefor e which believe [he is] precious: but unto them which be

disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head ofthe corner,

To you who believe, then, [is the] proper estimation of value, but to those who refuseto be convinced, “a stone that the builders rejected—this one came to be the head of

the corner”

Proper estimation of value: or, [is conferred] the honor. The Aramaicversion does not include the quote here.

Shimon Kefa 2:8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the

dvar, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed

indeed, a stumbling-block and a boulder that traps those who strike their foot against[it], refusing to comply with the Word toward which they were also laid down.

Toward which: that is, in line with the cornerstone (v. 6), which sets the standard. We are meant to uphold Him, not vice versa. Instead, we have chiseled Him into our image—into someone who prefers the Gentile way, and thus His words lead us

toward conclusions like that seen in v. 16. Paul’s writings were already being twisted.

2 Kefa 3:16As also in all [his] letters, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things

hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as [they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Laid down: or, appointed. Y'Isra'EL was designed to serve His purposes, but we decided to serve what we thought was our own, which was really the agenda of the

world order whose cornerstone was Nimrod the rebel, echoing haSatan.

Shimon Kefa 2:9But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal kehunah, a set apart nation, a peculiar

people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out ofdarkness into his marvellous light:

You, on the other hand, are “a chosen race , a royal order of priests, an ethnic groupin a separate category, a people kept back as His own possession, so that you maydivulge the excellent virtues of the One who has called you out of darkness into His

incomprehensible light.

A chosen race: i.e., Y'Isra'EL . Called: summoned or invited. Royal order of priests:Aramaic, that serves as a priest for the Kingdom. People kept back: Aramaic, a

rescued congregation.

Shimon Kefa 2:10Which in time past [were] Lo Ami not a people, but [are] now the people of

Elohiyim:which had not obtained rachamim, but now have obtained rachamim.

[you] who once were “not a people”

Hoshea 1:9,Then said [Elohiyim (אלהים) ],

Kara his name Lo Ami: for ye [are] not My people, and I will not be your [Elohiyim (.[(אלהים

Hoshea 1:10Yet the number of the benai Yisrael shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, [that] in the place where it was

those “Not Pitied”, but now having experienced mercy!

Hoshea 2:23And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have chesed upon her that had not obtained chesed; and I will say to [them which were] not my people, Thou [art] my

people; and they shall say, [Thou art] my Elohiyim (אלהים).

Not a people: Aram., not counted a people. But now: 780 years later—after thedoubling

Page 14: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Yirmeyahu 16:18; And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have

defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

Yeshayahu 40:2Speak ye comfortably to Yerushalayim, and cry unto her, that her warfare is

accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of YHWH (יהוה)'S hand double for all her sins.

of the sentence of 390 years After Kefa wrote this, despite his reminders

2 Kefa 1:13-15,Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you]

in remembrance;Knowing that shortly I must put off [this] my tabernacle, even as Eloneinu Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach hath shewed me.Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

We choose once again not to continue living as a people (the nation Y'Isra'EL), butthe mercy of YHWH יהוה kept us from totally losing contact with Him until the day

has again come when we have another occasion to fulfill all thatthis means.

Shimon Kefa 2:11Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and sojourner, abstain from fleshly

lusts, which war against the nefesh;

Beloved ones, I urge you as [those who are] foreigners and sojourners, keepyourselves from appetites for what is forbidden, which wage war against the soul,

Foreigners and sojourners: living in exile, while still outside their proper Land of Y'Isra'EL.

( I am not talking of the Y'isra'el of today, to me this is judea, a part of Y'isr'el, of which Abraham knew, and belongs to the house of Josef)

Beresheet 23:4; 47:9, I [am] a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying place

with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

Beresheet 47:9, And Yaakov said unto Paroh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage [are] an

hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my avot in the days of their

pilgrimage.

showing that it refers to the descendants of Avraham and Yaaqov in particular. What is forbidden: that is, to Y'Isra'ELites, who are called to remain set apart, even though

dwelling in the midst of peoples for whom such a high standard has not been required. These lusts find a foothold in our natural selves as human beings with the same weaknesses as anyone else, but we are given more empowerment to overcome

them—including the very knowledge once again of who we are, a knowledge that had been totally lost twice in our history.

Yom Pekuddah (day of visitation.)

Shimon Kefa 2:12Having your behaviour honest among the Goyim: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by [your] good works, which they shall Hinei, glorify

Elohiyim in the Yom Pekuddah ( פקדה ) (day of visitation.)

holding yourselves to surpassingly-commendable behavior among the Gentiles, sothat in whatever they [may] defame you as “evildoers”, they may acknowledge the

worthiness of YHWH יהוה at a time of inspection [because they]have seen [the evidence] from your beneficial deeds.

Among the Gentiles: therefore, those he is addressing are NOT Gentiles in theclassic sense, but only those who had left Y'Isra'EL, but were still Y'Isra'ELite in

fact. Evildoers: for example, first-century believers were called “atheists” because they did not recognize the lower gods of the Romans—though, of all people, they

were pious believers! We who insist on the higher standard will also be thought of as unkind for standing strong against traditions like Christmas and Easter that at best dilute the truth about Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach and at worst mislead people into

veiled paganism.

Shimon Kefa 2:12Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for Master's sake: whether it be to the

king, as supreme;

Be in subjection, then, to any human ordinance for the Master’s sake--whether to aking, who possesses superior rank,

Shimon Kefa 2:14Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers,

and for the praise of them that do well.

Page 16: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

or to administrators, as those who indeed are sent by Him to avenge evildoers, but[also] to commend those who act appropriately

Shimon Kefa 2:15For so is the will of Elohiyim, that with well doing ye may put to silence the

ignoranceof foolish men:

because this is YHWH יהוה ’s intention: to keep the ignorance ofsenseless human beings in check by [your example of] doing what profits others,

Senseless: or foolish. The Aramaic adds, who do not know Elohiyim.

Shimon Kefa 2:16As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the avadim

Elohiyim

as exempt from obligation, yet not holding to your license as a pretext for evil, butrather as bondslaves of the [highest] Elohiyim.

Exempt: because we are not truly citizens of these lands, subject to their spiritual rulers, but follow the higher law of Y'Isra'EL in direct relation to the Creator who is

above all others. But it would not serve His purposes for us to break human laws simply because they are merely human, because this would encourage disorder

among those who have nothing but the threat of punishment to restrain them from flagrant selfishness. (v. 15)

Shimon Kefa 2:17Honour all [men]. ahavah the brotherhood. Fear Elohiyim. Honour the king.

Hold [them] all in high esteem: act for the best interests of the brotherhood, fearYHWH יהוה , honor the king.

Note that we can find value or worth in anyone YHWH יהוה hasmade, but we are only called to love (act for the best interests of, agapate) those who

also love Him.

Shimon Kefa 2:18Avadim, [be] subject to [your] masters with all fear; not only to the good and

gentle, but also to the froward.

Domestic servants, be subordinate to your masters with all due respect, not only tothose who are agreeable and gentle, but also to those who are unfair,

Unfair: Aramaic, hard and difficult.

Page 17: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

Shimon Kefa 2:19For this [is] thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward Elohiyim endure grief,

suffering wrongfully

because this is a [way to wield] favorable influence, if someone for the sake of beingconscious of YHWH יהוה endures annoyance, suffering undeservedly,

Being conscious of YHWH יהוה : remembering that it is His dignity, and not merelyour own interests, that we represent by our every deed.

Shimon Kefa 2:20For what tifereth [is it], if, when ye be beaten for your faults, ye shall take it

patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye take it patiently, this [is]acceptable with Elohiyim.

because what is newsworthy about it if you calmly endure being mistreated formaking mistakes? But if you patiently endure suffering [for] doing what is right, this

is a favorable influence from YHWH יהוה .

Influence: One of the chief reasons for our continued exile was specifically thatY'Isra'EL could more directly fulfill its calling as a “light to the nations” in this

age.

Shimon Kefa 2:21For even hereunto were ye called: because Moshiach also suffered for us,

leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

For it was to this [very thing] that you have been called, since even Messiah sufferedon our behalf, leaving us an example so that you should follow closely in His

footsteps

Example: model, pattern, or paradigm, literally “under-letter”, from a practiceof allowing children to trace a stencil-like guide when beginning to learn to

write the letters of the alphabet.Shimon Kefa 2:22

Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth:

“who made no errors, nor was any deceit found in His mouth”

Deceit: here, craftiness, specifically meaning to lure someone with bait tobecome one’s prey.

Shimon Kefa 2:23Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not;

Page 18: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:

who, when having abuse heaped on [Him], did not hurl abuse back; whenundergoing suffering, He would not make threats, but entrusted [Himself] into the

care of the One who judges with justice--

Shimon Kefa 2:24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to

sins, should live unto tzedek: by whose stripes ye were healed.

who “took it upon Himself [to intervene by making an offering for] our sins” in Hisbody on the beam, so that, having died to sins, we might live unto righteousness (by

whose wounds [trickling with blood] you were healed).

The quote is from Yeshayahu 53:4, 12. Unto righteousness: Aramaic, byHis righteousness.

Shimon Kefa 2:25For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now made teshuvah unto the Shepherd

and Guardian of your souls.

For you were “like sheep, being led astray”

Yesh. 53:6 ,All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and

YHWH (יהוה) hath laid on Him the avon (iniquity) of us all

All of us had wandered off like the animals of the flock; we had each turned away toward his own direction, so YHWH let the punishment for all of our guilt fall on

Him. but now you have been turned back to

the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Yirm. 31:10;Shema Dvar YHWH (יהוה):

"O ye nations, and declare [it] in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Yisrael will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd [doth] his flock.

“Hear the word of יהוה, O gentiles, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Yisra’ĕl

gathers him, and shall guard him as a shepherd his flock.’

The quoted Scripture goes on to say we had each turned to our own way, so Yaaqov plays on this phraseology to indicate the reparation Yahu(ah)shua HaMashiyach

made for us. Again, if we are turning back, we are returning to a path we walked on

Page 19: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

once before. Who but Y'Isra'EL (aside from a few of its predecessors) had everwalked with YHWH יהוה before?

The Blessing of the remnant and the mishpatim of the Rishah

Mal'akhi 3:16Then they that feared YHWH יהוה spake often one to another and YHWH יהוה

hearkened, and heard [it], and a sefer zikkar.n (remembrance): was written before him for them that feared YHWH יהוה , and that thought upon His Name.

At that point, those who feared YHWH יהוה spoke to one another— [each] man to his fellow—and YHWH יהוה took notice and began to listen, and a memorial document was recorded in His presence for those fearing YHWH יהוה and for those who took

His Name into account.

At this point, they recognized their error and apparently confessed their sins toone another. Those who feared YHWH יהוה : those who were not trying to get away

with the things mentioned above. His fellow: literally, one of the same flock. He paid attention to it, though they were not speaking directly to Him, but to one another. They were loving their neighbors as themselves, as He had commanded, and He

counted that as success. Took into account: or, calculated, counted on. They counted the cost of being His and paid it anyway. His name: can also imply His reputation,

but not to the exclusion of remembering His proper Name itself. For this their names are taken into account and memorialized by Him in return. He honors those who

honor Him.

1 Shmuel 2:30Wherefore YHWH (יהוה) Elohiyim (אלהים) of Yisrael saith, I said indeed [that] thy

bayit, and the beit thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now YHWH (יהוה) saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise

me shall be lightly esteemed.

"Therefore YHWH the Elohiyim of Israel declares, 'I indeed promised [that] your house--that is, the house of your ancestor--would walk before Me in perpetuity. But now,' says YHWH, '[it is] profane to Me! Because those who honor Me, I will honor,

but those who treat Me with contempt will carry little weight.

Your ancestor: not Ithamar (if he was indeed his ancestor), for he had no such promise, but Aharon (in context of v. 27; see Ex. 27:21; 29:9). The promise was made more specifically to Pin'has, his grandson, but we have no evidence that Pin'has was Eli's ancestor. Carry little weight: literally, be light--trivial, insignificant, held in low esteem, of little account. They would certainly not remain in the highest position in

Israel!

Page 20: A Nation (people) unto YHWH

If we make Him our treasure, He will make us His:

Mal'akhi 3:17And they shall be mine, saith YHWH יהוה Tzava'ot, in that

day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own sonthat serveth him.

And YHWH יהוה [the Master] of Armies says, “They will belong toMe for the day when I will prepare My specially-treasured possession, and I will havecompassion on them as a man has compassion on his son who works for him [like a

servant].

Have compassion: could mean to take pity or spare, but here the “passion”aspect of compassion (the strong feeling) is emphasized. Those who give their treasures to the

storehouse of His people will themselves become the treasure!

Mal'akhi 3:18Then shall ye return, and ra ah (discern) between the Tzedek and the rasha (wicked),

between him that serveth Elohiyim and him that serveth him not.

When you come back, you will see [a distinction] between what is right and what iswrong, and between those who serve YHWH יהוה and those who do not serve Him.

What is right and what is wrong: or, the righteous and the wicked. As we stop spiritualizing everything and come back to the literal, physical commands as well as what they symbolize, the distinction is quite simply defined: the right eye vs. the left

eye,

Serving YHWH יהוה vs.serving self.

.passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O YHWH, [thou] Ben David ( יהושע And Yahusha stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto

you? They say unto Him, YHWH, that our eyes may be opened. So Yahusha had compassion [on them], and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received

sight, and they followed him.
