What if what I believe costs me
everything?
WHEN THE HEAT IS ON
~ The Gospel of Luke 12:8-12 ~
8 I tell you, everyone who acknowledges
Luke 12:18-19
me before men, the Son of Man also willacknowledge before the angels of God,9 but the one who denies me before menwill be denied before the angels of God.
“I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all
peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that
shall not be destroyed.”
~ Daniel 7:13-14
~ The Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:9
“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes
and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses
and is saved.”
“To acknowledge Jesus before men is
to be open and honest about our total
life-commitment to him as our Saviour
and Lord.”
8 I tell you, everyone who acknowledges
Luke 12:18-19
me before men, the Son of Man also willacknowledge before the angels of God,
will be denied before the angels of God. 9 but the one who denies me before men
10 And everyone who speaks a word
Luke 12:18-19
against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes againstthe Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11 And when they bring you before the
Luke 12:18-19
synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about howyou should defend yourself or what youshould say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you should say.
“Remember the word I said to you: ‘A
servant is not greater than his master.’ If
they persecuted me, they will also
persecute you.”~ Jesus of Nazareth in The Gospel of John 15:20
Why does Luke record this account in his historical
biography of Jesus?
Important Question
Jesus’ royalty deserves our loyalty.
“The idea that Jesus truly did rise form the dead is
indeed the most dangerous idea on Earth, for it tells us that not all men stay dead.
Given the inevitability of death, this truth is the
greatest news that mortal human beings could ever
hope to hear.”
~ The Apostle Peter ~
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial
when it comes upon you to test you, as though
something strange were happening to you. But
rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you
may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is
revealed.
~ The Apostle Peterin 1 Peter 4:12ff.
“If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are
blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you….Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that
name.”~ The Apostle Peter
in 1 Peter 4:12ff.
~ The Apostle Paul ~
~ The Apostle Paul in Romans 8:35ff
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword…?
No, in all these things we are more than conquerers through him who loved us.
~ The Apostle Paul in Romans 8:35ff
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels
nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our
Lord.”
~ The Apostle John ~
“Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the
heavens, ‘It has come at last— salvation and power
and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of
his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to
earth—the one who accuses them before our
God day and night.
~ The Apostle John in Revelation 12:10-11
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the
Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were
afraid to die.”
~ The Apostle John in Revelation 12:10-11 (NIV)
In your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord.
