KEEPING IT UPDATED

• Rule of thumb: aim to add a line every month• Think about all that you do, and put it on your CV

• Keep 2 copies saved on your computer: a Word document and a PDF for easy uploads

• Also save to a flash drive or external hard drive

• Provides a way for people to look up your research in more detail

– Increasingly important as you come close to completing your degree

• Practicing now will help you become a pro at it when you need it most

• Good skill to add to CV/LinkedIn (Managing Wordpress pages is increasingly becoming a necessary and valued skill)

Is it too early? NO!!

• Great for conferences, research symposiums, your presentations or any time you MIGHT meet a professional…so they’re great now!

• Some of the smaller ordering packages require you to order a minimum of 100 cards, so make sure you have a status on the card that will be valid for at least 6 months

• UNC has a card template

• But feel free to be creative

• If you want a different template, there are other companies out there, such as…

LET’S GET IT STARTED!(VIA VISTAPRINT)! Vistaprint.com! Play around with their templates! I used a UNC logo that I found online =)! SO MANY TEMPLATES so be sure to

choose something that represents you, and that you can see yourself handing out to other professionals

! Name matters – it’s your brand! It should match the name you plan to publish with and the name on your other marketing platforms

! Put all of your marketing platforms on your business card
