Preposition This could be teach to the students in the 5th

grade. To make students aware of how prepositional phrases can easily add detail to a sentence.

This presentation was created as a way to reinforce the use of prepositions in a student’s writing. Especially concentrating on the use of the preposition followed by a definite article .

What is a Preposition?

•A preposition is a word which shows the relationship between one thing and another.

•It links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in the sentence.

What can prepositions tell you?

1- It may tell you where a thing is in relation to something else.

What else can prepositions tell you?

2-It may tell you when something is in relation to another event.

For example: She refused to leave the house until the postman had been.

3- A preposition may tell you the position of something in relation to something else.

For example: The brown dog slept beside white rabbit.

What else can prepositions tell you?

4- It may also tell you the direction something is travelling in relation to something else.
