Who is Banksy? • Banksy, a street artist whose identity is still unknown till today. • Rumors that Banksy’s place of birth is Bristol, England – 1974• His artistic career started in the early 1990s• Artwork themes include political, greed, capitalism & war.

Historical Background• In 1992, this idea of a construction of the wall was proposed by the

prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin.• 1994 – First section of the barrier constructed • 2003 – 180km of the wall constructed• 2005 – Proposed length of route increased to 670km• 2012 – 440km constructed• Very little progress made in 2014

• Most of the barrier is wire fencing, 3m high• Reinforced with razor wire and 2m ditch• In “riskier” areas, an 8m concrete wall is built.• Built with watchtowers

• There are gates at various points to allow students to attend school, farmers to reach their fields, and others. • Troops are assigned to

Escapism• A depiction of a small kid with only a chalk• He can only dream of escaping the wall,

something.• In this context, to cut open the

wall.

Type of materials used for mural painting

• For Banksy, his materials used are fairly simple.• Brushes• Stencil + Spray Paint• Stencil is usually hand drawn

or printed on a cardboard.

I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl's face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an

intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key. - Banksy

- In his book, Wall And Piece; Banksy stated that he couldn’t finish his art at one go, and would often get caught before completing.- He used stencils to be more efficient.
