The research we did before conducting our media product helped us to

understand more about our chosen genre. With the help from this research we found out more about the elements and conventions that go into making our chosen genre. We researched the elements and editing techniques in

Clueless as this film is similar to ours. We tried to ensure that our film had similar conventions as Clueless did.

SETTING/LOCATIONIn a typical

romantic-comedy the setting is

usually based at a party, in a

school or at a park.

How did we use this

convention?Our media

product uses this convention when our actors Zoey and Greg go out

for a date.

This is where we chose to film our

opening scene because it was

quite and can be a romantic place to

have a picnic.

CAMERA WORKPANNING

We used panning to show the surroundings of the scene.

Panning was used in a lot of other films that were similar to our genre therefore we wanted

to use it to show how we are using the elements and conventions of romantic

comedies.

VARIETY OF CAMERA ANGLES

Throughout our opening we tried to use a vary of different camera angles and

camera shots to give our media product a more professional touch. We used

close-ups, mid-shots, long-shots, extreme-close-ups, panning and more.

MUSICIn most romantic

comedies the music is upbeat to show the happiness and love

between the characters however when the mood of the film

changes the music also does. It becomes

slower to make the audience feel as if they are part of the film. In our media product we used the music to set

the tone of our beginning scene.

In both Clueless and Easy A which are

two films that are a similar genre to our media product we

decided to research into them to see how

they present their music.

TITLESWe researched different films that fall into the same genre

as our media product and found that romantic comedy

titles are usually bold and bright therefore we

developed ours and used colours that will attract our target audience whilst also making our titles bold and

bright so hopefully our audience remember them.

LOGOWe wanted our target

audience to be attracted to our logo therefore we used bright colours and bold font

such as pink and purple. This helps to represent that

our target audience is teenage girls.
