NOTICE OF INTENT: SECTION 116 (3) (a) (b) (i) & (ii) PROCESS FOR CORPORATE SERVICES TO AMEND A SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT FOR TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES FOR MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 116 (3) (a) (b) (i) & (ii) of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003) read with Section 21 A of the Municipal Systems Act, 2000 (Act No. 32 of 2000) that the municipality intends, to amend the service level agreement secured through the Section 32 process of the Municipal Finance Management Act No 56 of 2003, from Sedibeng District Municipality (Bid 8/2/2/2-2014) for the rendering of telecommunication services for a period of 18 months.
REASONS FOR THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT WERE TABLED AND APPROVED BY THE COUNCIL AT ITS 4TH
MEETING HELD ON 21 APRIL 2016 UNDER ITEM: 9.A.3 - C1464/04/2016
The installation of such services commenced in June 2015 and were finalised and fully operational on 15 February 2016.
During the signing of the service level agreement the following was noted:
1. Contract period between the service provider and Sedibeng was valid from 16/05/2014 for a three yearperiod and should effectively end 15 May 2017.
2. However, the Service Level Agreement stipulates that the contract will terminate on 30 June 2017but,for practical reasons, the contract should expire on 31 December 2018.
Taking the above into consideration it is proposed that the service level agreement on the contract be extended in terms of Section 116 (3) of the MFMA, for a period of 18 months, not beyond 31 December 2018.
The extension is subject to the approval and consent of the service provider at the rates as stipulated in the tender documents providing for reasonable market related escalations, subject to the availability of funds.
The public is hereby invited to submit written comments or representations within 14 consecutive days from the date of this notice (on or before 11 September 2017), to the office of the Municipal Manager in respect of the proposed amendment. Such comments or representations must be submitted to the under-mentioned address.

Vrouedag is elke jaar ‘n belangrike viering op Tiger Wheel & Tyre se ka-lender. In 2008 het Tiger Wheel & Tyre (Vaaldriehoek) reeds hul eerste Vrouedag-werkwinkel in die Vaal-driehoek aangebied. Dié byeenkom-ste word elke jaar gekombineer met leersame aktiwiteite, soos om vroue te leer om ‘n pap band te ruil. Praat-jies is ook al deur die jare in same-werking met diensorganisasies soos Cansa, die Nasionale Bloeddiens en Discovery aangebied.
Sulke projekte en byeenkomste is egter nie beperk tot Vrouedag nie. Daar is heeljaar interessante aktiwi-teite om aan deel te neem!
Tans kan kliënte byvoorbeeld deelneem aan ‘n wedstryd waarin ‘n 2017 Jeep Wrang-ler Unlimited V6 Rubicon te wen is. Die tota-le waarde van die prys is R936 000. Al wat kliënte moet doen om outomaties by die ge-lukstrekking ingesluit te word, is om twee of meer BF Goodrich-bande van Tiger Wheel & Tire Vanderbijlpark of Vereeniging te koop. The said Roll-over Adjustment Budget can be viewed by the public at the Financial Services Department, Municipal Offices, Main Building, 25 Mitchell Street, Meyerton.
Notice is also hereby given in terms of Section 21A of the Local Government Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, read with Section 127(5) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, Act 56 of 2003, that Midvaal Local Municipality at its meeting held on 24 August 2017, approved the Draft Annual Report for 2016/17. It must be noted that Auditor General’s report will only be available after 30 November 2017.

The annual Rand Water Race for Victory Cycle Classic will take place over the weekend of Sep-tember 9 and 10.
This, for many recreational and racing cyclists will be their first event of the spring season. Rand Water Board and the various sup-porting sponsors have once again committed themselves to suppor-ting the Frances Vorwerg School for Physically and learning dis-abled children through their gene-rous sponsorship of this major event.
A new and exciting addition to the weekend of “traditional road cycling” will be the intro-duction of a Mountain Bike Day to be held on Saturday Sept 9.
The start and finish venue for both the MTB and road events will once again take place at the famed Wilkie Circus tent near Daleside which is centrally situated between Johannesburg and Vereeniging. The MTB route offers two distan-ces over 20 km and 50 km on relatively flat ter-rain in the area (there are a few obstacles of cour-se). All categories are catered for and it is an officially sanctioned event with prize monies on offer as well. On Sunday the beautiful and tough Suikerbosrand Nature reserve will once again
provide the backdrop for the battlefield of the Elite riders. Not only will a King of the Moun-tain (KOM) prize be up for grabs for the best climber in the Reserve, but a further R70 000 in cash (besides product prizes) will be available for the serious riders. Past winners include a list of illustrious riders such as Darryl Impey (of Tour de France fame), Malcolm Lange, Reinie Janse van Rensburg (Tour de France fame), Cal-vin Beneke and of course the defending champi-on of 2016 Nolan Hoffman of the BCX team (One can remember how the fierce cold winds experienced in 2016 forced the Elite race distan-ce to be shortened). Many pundits view this race as traditionally the toughest one-day event (over a distance of 150km) on the South African ca-lendar and it does represent a Selection event for South Africa’s best talent.
The shorter route for the 110 km Classic dis-tance will see the riders take in the undulating scenic areas of the Midvaal area (Henley on Klip, Walkerville, Meyerton), but as per normal the seasonal winds could be a major obstacle. The less fit riders are able to enjoy a nice 54 km ride along similar territory.
As per normal the event is a qualifying event for all the major events across the country and riders are encouraged to enter early on the web-site www.raceforvictory.co.za with pre-race en-tries closing 2 weeks prior to that. Late entries will also be taken. Close to 4000 cyclists are expected to participate on the weekend.
