A bus tour then took the students around Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI), a 98-hectare training ground for officers from Singapore's Army, Navy and Airforce, allowing students a glimpse of the training academy. After which, an army veteran, who happened to be one of Singapore’s very first batch of officers, narrated and shared with us his experiences on both war then and now at the Army Museum of Singapore (ARMS). This museum preserves the heritage of the Singapore Army, as well as honouring the contributions and celebrating the experiences of Singapore’s soldiers.
This tour was an amazing experience and allowed all to reflect on how pioneers of Singapore contribute to the country’s growth, making Singapore one of the safest and richest in the world. Nevertheless, one should not be complacent. It is realised continuous effort is requried to protect and maintain the country and its citizens' safety and security.
If the word ‘battle’ interests you, do keep a lookout of our upcoming event in August. There will be an Archery battle amongst teams. To find out more, join and like our Kaplan CampusLife facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/

In today’s technology based world, job seekers and hiring companies are utilizing online job search engines or
corporate websites for their recruitment. With the use of these online platforms, candidates mostly require to send
job applications via email.
Below is an example of a poor job application email and some tips that may help you in your job hunt.
New message
Subject: Biz. admin position … (1) From:[email protected] … (2) To: [email protected] Sent : 15 May 2015 13:30:52 Attachement: cv_and_resume.pdf … (3) Dear John I saw the job ad that you’ve placed on Kaplan’s notice board. 1 Avoid general and informal subject title as shown above.
Imagine receiving hundreds of emails from job applicants
by the hiring manager. Your subject title should give a clear
indication of the position you wish to apply. Use a specific
subject for instance, “Application for the position of
Business Administration” to define your job application.
2 You might still be using the same
email address since you were twelve
years old. Maybe it is time for you to
create an account which sounds more
professional and mature.
3 Check to make sure that the attachment(s) in the email is the intended file you wish to send through.
You wouldn’t want to attach a wrong file for the job you are dying for. Also, renaming the file as your name
for example “gary_lee_resume.pdf” will be easier for the hiring manager to recognize and identify with
when he/she downloads it to the computer.
4 Put yourself in the shoes of the hiring
manager when you wrote a job application email
depicted in the above example. What is the
perception that you have of the applicant? A turn-
off isn’t it? The tone of the email needs to be
formal and portray professionalism. As an
applicant, you will need to create an impression
that you are serious about the job and wouldn’t
want your resume to end up in the trash bin.
5 End the email by initiating a meet up with the
hiring manager. Include your contact number as it
will be easier for him/her to get in touch with you.
Sign-off the email with “Yours Sincerely” or “Best
Regards” followed by your full name.

Before you hit that ‘send’ button, check for typo error. Read your email over slowly and out loud if possible.
It is an effective way to spot any mistakes you may have made. Again, it is good practice to check the at-
tached file again. Good luck!

The objective of this event was to raise awareness of KISS-K, aiming to construct a communication network platform amongst the Korean student community studying in Kaplan. KISS-K booths were set up at Wilkie & POMO campus. Students were encouraged to like and share the KISS-K Facebook page or post a selfie on Instagram with KISS-K logo hashtag. They will then receive Korean snacks and/or mementos. Additionally, KISS-K members shared their experiences of Singapore with fellow students so as to help them in adapting to living away from home. The event turned out to be great success as it attracted not only the Korean community but also other international and local students as well. Kiss-K now holds more than 150 followers on Facebook and 95 offline members. Do continue to keep a lookout of KISS-K as more diverse activities will be planned to provide Korean students with a meaningful campus life in Kaplan Singapore. You can find more pictures on our Facebook page “ Kiss-K Singapore”
