    Directions to the Randall Davey Audubon Center

    From Interstate 25:

    From I-25 take the St. Francis Drive exit. Go north on St. Francis Drive 3.8 milesto West Alameda St. Turn right and go east on W. Alameda (toward the

    mountains) for 2.1 miles, to a point where the road curves sharply right and goesover the Santa Fe River. At the next 4-way stop (the intersection with Upper

    Canyon road) turn left. Follow this road for 1.8 miles until it dead ends in theRandall Davey Audubon Center parking lot. The last .6 mile is a curvy dirt road.

    You may feel as if you are lost, but keep going - you will arrive shortly.If you need additional directions please call the Audubon Center at 505-983-4609.

    From the north side of Santa Fe:

    From the intersection of US 599 (the Relief Route) and St. Francis Drive go south

    on St. Francis Drive 1.9 miles to West Alameda St. Turn left and follow thedirections iven above.

    Rand B. Lee is a garden writer, lecturer, and design consultant who has lived and worked in northernNew Mexico since 1987. Rand's writing has appeared in national gardening magazines such as The

    American Gardener,The Herb Companion, and The Herb Quarterly, and he is the author of one book,

    Pleasures of the Cottage Garden, now out-of-print. Rand lives in Pecos with his Siberian husky,

    Blessing, his black cat, Urdwill, and many garden-chomping wild bunnies.

    Deb Whittaker is a culinary herbalist, instructor and certified laughter yoga instructor from Denver,

    Colorado. She is a frequent public speaker at herb and garden conferences and garden writer onherbs, sustainability and body/mind/spirit connection with articles appearing in Colorado Gardener,

    Edible Front Range, and The Herb Companion. Her goal is to bring back the conviviality of foodthrough easy, healthy, delicious cuisine.

    1:15 PM A Garden to Dye forMadder and More Ric Rao

    Ric Rao has been involved in fiber arts for more than 35 years. He started raising sheep in New Jersey

    in 1975. In 1978 he moved his flock of sheep & dairy goats to northern Texas. He learned how to spin

    the yarn, then learned about natural dyes and in the early 1980s he learned how to weave. Elevenyears ago he moved to Las Cruces. He started his dye garden in 2000 and it was showcased on thePBS Series "Southwest Yard & Garden," under the subheading "Innovative Gardeners," in the fall of

    2002. Since then his dye garden has expanded as he experiments with more natural dyes.
