Set up access to use the University's IT facilities and obtain your University e-mail
address, University username and password.
All ACFs will need to have associate IT accounts. This will enable you to use the online booking system to register for a course. You will need to make an application for access which will need to be signed by your Academic (University) Supervisor who is your University Sponsor for your associate access. Instructions on how to do this are included in your ACF handbook or can be also obtained from [email protected].
Handy Tip
Please ensure that the code of practice and associate access request form are fully completed and countersigned by your Academic (University ) Supervisor before submitting.
Handy Tip
All online courses provided by the Graduate School and Professional Development are delivered through Moodle. In addition some training resources and researcher development information is accessed via Workspace. When you are completing your application for an associate account you should ensure that your application includes a request to access both Moodle and Workspace.
Handy Tip
Once you have obtained your university associate access account and in order to be appropriately set up to complete any on-line learning; Please Contact the University IT-Helpline on Ext 16677 to assist gaining access to ‘Moodle’ or follow the following link: http://moodle.nottingham.ac.uk
Once in receipt of your University username and password
You will now be able to log on to the University’s central online booking system using your username and password from your Nottingham IT account. The booking system called ‘central short courses booking system’ or ‘csc’ for short is a university wide system that allows students and staff to book a place on the diverse array of short courses available at the University.
By logging on to the system you will also be able to view your training record (already attended and future training course bookings), book a place on a course, or to cancel a place. You will also be able to print out attendance certificates for the courses you have attended if necessary.
The central short courses, ‘csc’, booking system can be found at www.nottingham.ac.uk/csc

An example of the University of Nottingham Short Course and URL for the main log in page is as follows:
Courses for ACFs can be booked from mid October and dates for N-trans courses fall between early November and June each academic year. Many of the courses are run once or twice during the academic year but places are limited and very competitive if booking is not done early. Please note the N-trans training courses are convened by the Graduate School and are tutored by academics, librarians and other professional development practitioners. There are other short courses available at the university, that you are welcome to attend, that are not included in the N-trans training programme. These courses will be convened and delivered by University staff members from other professional services at the University (i.e Information Services, Professional Development). It clearly states at the top of the course description whether the course is convened as part of the N-trans programme or by the Graduate School.
To book yourself a place on your chosen course:
Handy Tip
All N-trans and faculty training programme courses are restricted to participants from the Medicine and Health Sciences Faculty and associates (ACFs), therefore the courses are not searchable from the csc keyword search function. To book a course use the booking url provided in the training programme handbook.
Identify the courses you wish to attend (please note some courses have pre-requisites). The quickest way of
doing this is by using the specific URL booking link for the course. All booking URLs are provided in the N-
trans Training Programme booklet. An example of one of the booking URL links to a specific course
currently listed in the ACF handbook can be found below:
