Members Encouraged to Provide Input on Housing Supply Plan The Ontario government is now looking at ways to increase housing supply and address barriers getting in the way of new ownership and rental housing.

In order to better understand where the challenges and opportunities lie, the government has launched an online consultation process in order to collect feedback from all Ontarians. While TREB will respond to the province, we encourage Members to provide

direct input to the government on how to improve housing affordability. Make your voice heard!

Deadline to submit input is January 25, 2019. Click here to find out more info on the government consultation process and how to provide input.

TREB applauds the government for taking this action, ensuring that our city, region and province have an adequate supply and appropriate mix of housing, and we look forward to providing input to the government on this matter.

Stay tuned for further developments!

Best Practices: Avoiding Contract Interference

A Buyer Representation Agreement (BRA) is a contract signed between a brokerage and a buyer.

According to Section 7 of the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 (REBBA 2002), it is considered interference to induce a buyer or seller to break an existing contract.

Whether or not you are representing the buyer or the seller in a real estate transaction, it is important to engage in best practices to avoid interference and to:

• Maximize your professionalism;

• Adhere to the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002; and

• Handle the process fairly and with openness where required.

Click here to learn more about how to avoid contract interference in your real estate transactions.
