TREB’s Concern for Road Safety at Don Mills & Kern Receives Media Attention
We continue to make progress with the nomoreclosecalls.ca campaign, and have garnered significant attention from the media on the need for traffic signals at Don Mills and Kern Roads, an intersection frequently used by Members when visiting TREB’s Head Office.
The dangers posed at this intersection were covered by Global News in a live television segment, as well as Metroland Toronto, and Toronto.com. Our efforts are paying off, as the City has agreed to do another study of this intersection.
If you haven’t done so yet, please visit nomoreclosecalls.ca to
easily send a message to our Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong,
calling for the installation of a traffic light at Don Mills
and Kern.
Migrate to the Clareity Authenticator App Before June 30, 2018
TREB has begun the process of switching to a new way to access Stratus, as the Clareity Token is being phased out. You may have noticed the
newly added countdown timer on the Stratus home page. The timer functions as a reminder to Members who have not yet switched to the Clareity Authenticator App that they have until June 30, 2018 to do so. Members who have not made the switch by June 30, 2018 will incur an interruption in Stratus access.
To access Stratus using the new Clareity Authenticator App, all Members will require a smartphone running Apple iOS or Android OS.
Do you have questions? You can find full guidelines on how to switch here, or watch a series of videos on the process in the Video Centre here.

Spotlight On: Arbitration, Professional Standards & Compliance – Part 1
Arbitration
Arbitration is the formal process used to settle brokerage-to-
brokerage commission disputes, and involves a private hearing
in which TREB’s Arbitration & Professional Standards Roster
acts as a neutral third party to reach a final and binding
decision.
Professional Standards
Abiding by TREB’s professional standards helps to ensure
that Members operate in a fair and professional way that is
in compliance with MLS Rules® and Policies and the TREB
By-Law.

Best Practices: Avoiding Contract Interference
What is Contract Interference?
Contract interference occurs when one Member wrongfully
seeks to prospect or market to a person who is already in a
contractual relationship with another Member. They can
be in violation knowingly or unknowingly.
While many instances of contract interference may be
explicit and a result of clear wrongdoing, in several
scenarios, identifying contract interference can be more
ambiguous. For example, what is the appropriate course
of action when an individual in a contract is seeking the
services of another Member and proceeds to make the
first point of contact?
According to Section 7 – Dealings with Other Registrants
– of the REBBA 2002 Code of Ethics:
(1) A registrant who knows or ought to know that a person
is a client of another registrant shall communicate
information to the person for the purpose of a trade in
real estate only through the other registrant, unless the
other registrant has consented in writing.
(2) If a broker or salesperson knows or ought to know that
a buyer or seller is a party to an agreement in connection
with a trade in real estate with a brokerage other than the
brokerage that employs the broker or salesperson, the
broker or salesperson shall not induce the buyer or seller
to break the agreement.
