AGRO-METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS

• Warm or mild conditions prevailed in most of
Europe.
• Colder conditions at the beginning of December partly offset
the exceptional temperature surplus of November.
• Autumn as a whole has been one of the warmest in
records, especially in eastern and northern Europe.

• Dry conditions in most of central, eastern and
south-eastern Europe.
• This allowed sowings to be completed in delayed regions,
although not always within the optimal sowing window.
• Wet conditions observed in large IT, southern ES,
Sweden and Finland.
• Northern IT was affected flood events, heavy rainfall and
snowfall at the beginning of December.

Extreme weather events

• Exceptionally warm in Baltic Sea region,
Scandinavian Peninsula, and north-western Russia.
• Rain deficit in eastern DE, PL, southern Ukraine,
northern RO and Turkey.
• Rain surplus in large parts of Italy, southern Spain,
as well as Sweden and Finland
Winter hardening and frost kill

• Hardening process started late, and frost tolerance
is still weak.
• Cereals underdeveloped in parts of central and
south-eastern Europe (CZ, southern PL, SK, HU,
RO, and BG).
