‘Vetter’s Letter
We are getting down to the wire for Springfest. May 6th will be
here before we know it. We still need tricky tray auction prizes.
We also have space for two more vendors, as some recently can‐
celled. If you can help in any of these areas, please see Marty and Laura Hegyi.
The success of this event depends on all of us working together. They would like
to have these items by the April 10th meeting, but certainly would not turn down
any donations that come in after that date. As we all know, the success of Spring‐
fest is key for donations to our various charities later in the year.
I am sure everyone is preparing their ‘Vettes for the coming season. Some of us
have taken advantage of this beautiful weather and have gotten our cars out on
the road even earlier this year. I am looking forward to a new fun‐filled Corvette
season.
Please remember to pray for our men and women serving our country, who make
it possible for us to continue to enjoy the freedoms in our great country.
Save the wave!

Sat., Apr. 14 — Join us for a cruise to Nick’s 114 Café for lunch followed by a stop @ Hollywood Casino on our way back home.
Nick’s 114 Café is located @ 114 Bridge Street in the small town of New Cumberland, PA, just south of Harrisburg on the west side of the Susquehanna River. It is the kind of place that you may not give a second glance when passing, but once you have tasted their food and enjoyed their warm and welcoming service, they will not be able to keep you away. They have a full bar, six pool tables and a few arcade games as well as great tunes. The menu is extensive, from lobster bisque to cheesesteaks, to what some have called the best crab cakes around!
After lunch, we will head north‐east for about a 30 minute ride to the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course located at 777 Hollywood Blvd., Grantville, PA. Hollywood Casino features over 2,450 reel, video slot and video poker machines ranging from one penny to $100, with all the hottest games currently available. And with over 40 table games and 16 poker tables, Hollywood Casino has a game for everyone. While there, you can also visit the Hollywood Memories Museum, where you can step into the real world of classic Hollywood. View memorabilia and props from great films like Superman, India Jones, Forrest Gump and Cleopatra, and then marvel at actual costumes worn by Marilyn Monroe, Christopher Reeve, Elizabeth Taylor, Elvis Presley and Natalie Wood. (www.hollywoodpnrc.com)
We will leave from the Cracker Barrel located off Rte. 100/I‐78 in the back parking lot @ 10:00am. Our ETA for Nick’s 114 Café will be around 12 noon.

A Bit ‘o The Green Sun., Mar18 — A sure sign that Spring has sprung is the Allentown St. Patricks’ Day Parade. This year was a little differ‐ent in that the weather was downright warm. A record number of Allentonians lined the parade route wearing t‐shirts and shorts and enjoying the early‐season sunshine. AACC provided eight cars to escort the Royal Order of Lady Hiber‐nians in Division #2, another car for the Poster Contest winner, and eleven more ‘Vettes were back in Division #7.
This year’s spectators were courteous — staying off the road (for the most part) and not throwing things at us. Obviously we got the occasional ”Light ‘em up” and some were happy to oblige. (Apparently, these are the ones who know they need new tires this season...)
Following the parade, everyone headed back to the Hornung’s home in West Allentown to continue the early season festivities, where the party spilled onto their patio. With temps in the 70s, how else should it be? The food was abun‐dant, drinks flowed, and the club started getting back into the swing of things. The St. Pat’s parade and post‐party was a great way for many of the newer members to see what AACC is all about — celebrating the Corvettes and hanging with friends!
A special thanks to Dave and Susan Hornung for coordinating the parade and opening the doors of their home. Just a few pix appear below. Be sure to visit Len Feinberg’s Fotki site for shots from both he and Joe Miklovic (our resident Turn 2 Photographer).

Think Spring, Think SPRINGFEST! Our upcoming 11th Annual SpringFest Corvette Show is at DeSales University on May 6th. The
show flyer is on pages 7‐8 of this newsletter. To make our first Springfest a success, we are still
seeking items for the tricky tray auction as well as monetary sponsor and trophy donations. If
you own your own business or know someone who does, please consider being a sponsor, or
asking them to contribute.
Volunteers are also needed on the day of the show to assist in set up/teardown,
parking, registration, vote tallying, 50/50 tickets, Tricky Tray, etc. Sign‐up sheets
for these tasks will be circulating at both of our April meetings.
New at this year's show will be a special guest appearance by Lance Miller, Co‐
owner of Carlisle Productions, along with his 2012 Carlisle Blue ZR1. Lance will
serve as one of our trophy presenters. We will also have AACC
T‐shirts for the first 100 pre‐registered participants as well as a few other surprises at the trophy ceremony.
Thank you for your support!

2013 Camaro 1LE www.AutoWeek.com (Jake Lingeman, 3/27/12) Chevrolet is resurrecting the 1LE order code for the 2013 Camaro SS. It will turn the pony car into a dedicated track toy
with an upgraded suspension, ZL1‐based wheels and tires and a high‐capacity fuel pump for handling 1g corner loads.
The original 1LE was introduced in 1988, inspired by Pro‐Am racing. It turned the Camaro into a showroom stock racer.
The 2013 1LE package is offered only on 1SS and 2SS Camaros with the six‐speed manual transmission. The 1LE code
makes that manual a close‐ratio transmission tuned for road racing and adds a 3.91 final drive ratio.
The twin‐tube dampers are replaced with monotube units that allow the suspension to keep most of the ride quality
while still focusing on optimal body control. Larger front and rear stabilizer bars are installed along with higher‐capacity
rear‐axle shafts and a strut tower brace. The 1LE also gets the wheel bearings, toe links and rear shock mounts from
the Camaro ZL1. Twenty‐inch wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle Supercar G2 tires. The new option package also
adds a matte‐black hood, front splitter and rear spoiler to the Camaro. It also borrows the flat‐bottomed steering
wheel from the ZL1 and the short‐throw shifter. Both are trimmed in microfiber suede.
The new option package sets up a Camaro rival to the Ford Mustang Boss 302, which is hard‐core version of the GT
built for track days. The 1LE Camaro rolls with the SS's 6.2‐liter V8, rated at 426 hp and pricing will be under $40,000.

Corvette In Sebring Hall of Fame www.CorvetteOnline.com (Chris DeMorro) March 22 — Few racetracks in America have the history or story that Sebring International Raceway does. First opened
to the public in 1950, Sebring has hosted some of the world’s greatest racers on its unique 3.7 mile track. Corvettes
have been racing at Sebring since 1956, taking part in many historical races including the 12 Hours of Sebring, consid‐
ered one of three “Triple Crown” racing series.
This week, Sebring officials welcomed into their storied Hall of Fame the Chevy Corvette, an incredible honor. Corvette‐
blogger reports that this great honor is cause for celebration in the Corvette community. Indeed, the Corvette has won
7 12 Hours of Sebring races, and a total of 231 Corvettes have run in the historic endurance race. Corvette is the win‐
ngest racer at the American Le Mans Series 12 Hours of Sebring, which alone would have been enough to warrant an
entry into the Hall of Fame.
But the Corvette has a long history with Sebring, and they proved that they still have what it takes to compete at this
high level of motorsports. Corvette Racing took home 2nd and 3rd place at the 12 Hours of Sebring this past weekend,
putting themselves into a prime spot for making a run at the championship this season.
Strong C6.R Season Start in Sebring www.CorvetteOnline.com (Clifton Klaverweiden) March 20 — After a season of ups and downs in 2011, Corvette Racing got started on the right foot in 2012 with a
strong performance in the American Le Mans Series GT class opener, the 60th Annual 12 Hours of Sebring held at
Sebring International Raceway in Florida this past weekend. Team Corvette hit the track at Sebring with not only the
brand new wide‐body Compuware C6.R’s, but also new driver line‐ups for both cars as well. In the No. 3 Corvette it was
Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, and Jordan Taylor, while Corvette Racing veterans Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin
teamed up with Richard Westbrook in the No. 4 car.
The No. 4 Corvette managed to hold the lead for the majority of the race, but lost several positions thanks to a late pit
stop in the 12 hour long race. Oliver Gavin tells CorvetteRacing.com “The result was a bit of an anticlimax after leading
and running at the front for most of the race. Our strategy anticipated a caution that didn’t come. Nevertheless, third
place pays good points for the ALMS championship. Tommy drove brilliantly and Richard did a fantastic job, so our
partnership is working well.”
Sebring was every bit the contest that fans have come to expect from the GT class, as the entire race was a back‐and‐
forth battle between Corvette, Ferrari, and BMW right to the bitter end. In the final lap Jan Magnussen managed to
pass the No. 71 Ferrari to secure second place for the No. 3 C6.R. “I didn’t even know that I had passed the Ferrari in
the darkness. We were struggling at the end of the race with the track conditions, so second is a huge bonus and a fan‐
tastic foundation to build on. Sebring is such a difficult race, and I’m very happy with a podium finish.” Magnussen said.
Corvette Racing will next take to the track on April 14th at Long Beach.
A Tour of CorvetteOnline.com This month we re‐introduce you to a common information source for this newsletter — www.CorvetteOnline.com.
News comes to us with frequent email notifications of site updates. The current postings feature videos on “Vic Edel‐
brock’s E‐Force Supercharged Carbon Edition Corvette,” a shop tour of ProCharger: “How Superchargers Are Made,”
and a “Guide to Diagnosing a Damaged Radiator.” Current Corvette news and rumors include a story on Corvette Rac‐
ing’s technology transfer, recent race recaps, famous ’Vettes headed to auctions, modification highlights (featuring re‐
sto‐mod projects), and product updates on equipment. A (depressing) weekly feature is called “Wrecked Vette
Wednesday,” where a tale of an unfortunate incident involving our favorite American sports car is shared. On a more
positive note, periodic give‐away offers by select vendors are listed, so be sure to check the site often for these timely
updates.
Do you have a favorite Corvette‐related website to share with everyone? If so, please send us a little write‐up on the
site — the website address, what kind of information they share, and how others can benefit from visiting the site.

RockGuard Film Len Feinberg (’10) This is an unsolicited testimonial for 3M Rock Guard Film installed in
Allentown (PA) by RockGuard Inc. at 1327 W. Tilghman St. The film is great!! I had it installed on our ‘10 Grand
Sport, the ‘09 Silverado, and just had it put on my new ‘12 Silverado. It really protects the front end of your vehicle or
the rockers. On trucks (or SUVs), you don't get the noise from wind buffeting common with an air deflector. This is the
same film that you can have applied by the National Corvette Museum if you take delivery of your car there.
I had a bra on the ‘07 Corvette and this film is so much easier. You just wash, wax, and polish the film just like you do
the rest of the car — without the bother of installation, storage and removal of the bra. (This is a nice feature when
traveling to shows.)
These three links provide more information about the product and installation:

NCM News & Events
Only in America Visits GM Plant Last November the Corvette Plant got a special visitor ‐ Larry the Cable Guy and a film crew from History Channel,
shooting for the new season of "Only in America!" The episode premiered on March 21, but check your local listings for
a repeat airing. Larry gets a lesson on the paint booth, and crew member Blake gets put through the water test while
Larry and Plant Manager Dave Tatman watch. Of course, I think everyone's favorite part is his test drive with Judy.
You'll have to tune in for the excitement, and the humor!
Editorial comment: I hope the plant’s Quality Control department stepped in to double‐check anything Larry touched
during his visit...let’s just say he has no future building Corvettes.
Are You Ready For Show Season? Car show season is already in full swing! Is your ride ready? If you are entering your
car for certification at Bloomington Gold, you are required to have a list of options
such as the window sticker for judging purposes. While an original window sticker
will give you the most points, our reproductions will also qualify for points, and
sometimes even the same as the original window sticker!
Window Stickers take 3‐4 weeks to process, so please place your order as soon as possible. The Library & Archives of‐
fers 1989 ‐ Present for $35/members and $40/non‐members. You must also order your build sheet at the same time,
as that's where they get the information to make your window sticker.
