The need for a compact lightweight target location system on the battlefield has never been greater. Today’s precision artillery

collateral damage. In response to the ever-growing demand for accuracy C4I Special Systems has integrated the most proven components into one self-contained module.

To generate the grid of a target, an acquisition system must first know its own position. From there it can establish the range of the target and the latter’s angle relative to the north. A sighting system, day and night

type, an accurate locating system, a laser rangefinder and a digital magnetic compass are the integral components of D/N AEG device.

D/N AEG unit is man-portable system with improved surveillance and acquisition capability for rapidly targeting multiple locations in both day and in all battlefield conditions.

D/N AEG unit was designed to provide the warfighter with improved target acquisition and precise geo-location capabilities to support the ever increasing need for precision targeting while minimizing potential collateral damage

Day/Night Observation capability with digital day camera, thermal camera, and an laser range finder are used to observe targets at any time with optimum performance enhancing recognition, identification, and situational awareness.

Day/Night AEG unit main features• High resolution, • New automatic digital image processing techniques• Lightweight and rugged • Internal digital magnetic compass and GPS• Continuous zoom camera• Flexible, power, and video options• Integrated Laser Range Finder (LRF)

To lay the mortar onto targets an hydraulic system is used, with a manual backup in case of power failure. The traverse arc of the mortar is 2,130 mils, while the elevation is from 800 to 1,600 mils.

When travelling the mortar is stowed in the horizontal position and when required for action is traversed through the rear until a large square baseplate is in touch with the ground.unu til a large square baseplate is in touch with the ground.

A LIGHT MOBILE 120mm Mortar System can carry more then 46 pcs 120 mm mortar shells.

With a trained crew the mortar can be deployed and fired in under half a minute and, more importantly, it can start to reposition within seconds of firing the last round in a salvo as once the baseplate is raised clear of the ground the vehicle can start moving while the mortar stows itself.

Barrel cooling systemdesigned for firing four rounds per minute for up to 20 minutes without the barrel temperature rising above 100°C. Without barrel cooling system this would have resulted in a barrel temperature of over 500°C.

A barrel temperature of 180°C could result in the propelling charge igniting after 15 seconds and a 220°C temperature could cause instantaneous ignition. To reduce the temperature, the new system incorporates a sleeve around the barrel that generates a mist of 100-micron water droplets that evaporate and cool the barrel at a rate of 1,000 Kcals per minute, equivalent to 0.4°C per second.
