Introduction
Augmented reality will truly change the way weview the world.
With augmented-reality displays, which willeventually look much like anormal pair of glasses, informative graphics willappear in your field of view, and
audio will coincide with whatever you see.
Augmented Reality is a field of computer researchwhich deals with combination of reality with computer generated data.

Head-mounted Displays
Just as monitors allow us to see textand graphics generated by computers,head-mounted displays (HMDs) will
enable us to view graphics and textcreated by augmented-reality systems

Augmented VS VirtualRealityVirtual reality creates
immersive, computergenerated environmentswhich replaces real world\
Here the head mounteddisplays block out all theexternal world from theviewer and present a viewthat is under the completecontrol of the computer.
Virtual reality serves for at
totally immersiveenvironment . The sensesare under control of thesystem.
The user is completelyimmersed is an artificialworld and cut off from realworld.
Augmented reality is closerto the real world.augmented reality addgraphics, sounds & smell tothe natural world, as itexists.
Thus it augments the realworld scene in such a waythat the user can maintaina sense of presence in thatworld.
That is ,the user caninteract with the real world, and at the same time cansee, both the real andvirtual world co-existing.
User is not cut off from thereality

Using Augmented Reality
Military - The military has been devising usesfor augmented reality for decades. The ideahere is that an augmented-reality system couldprovide troops with vital information about
their surroundings, such as showing whereentrances are on the opposite end of abuilding, somewhat like X-ray vision.
Instant information - Tourists and studentscould use these systems to learn more about acertain historical event.
