The Business Development Intern Real Experience Starts Today

Recently named a top 50 Chicago company to work for, YouSwoop's explosive growth as a premier daily deal site has been well chronicled by top local and regional media outlets, tweeted by thousands of fans, and has got bloggers talking (at the least!). At YouSwoop, our goal is to provide the highest level of service to our customers and to carry this out more efficiently and proactively than our competitors Launching our internship program in Spring and Summer 2013, YouSwoop is looking to the college students to drive more growth, increase awareness, refine our branding and be influential in the next stage of our success. This unprecedented program is a way to gain real-life experience that will lead to enhancement of communication and leadership skills, creativity, decision making capabilities, and a way to get your foot in the door at one of Chicago’s most desirable places to start a career. Interns will enjoy a great deal of ownership and independence with their day-to-day functions while also receiving the support they need to not only succeed at YouSwoop but garner core skillsets needed to succeed in any professional environment.

Specifically, College Account Reps can see their day being spent:

Getting top notch coaching from industry leaders and building essential skills and business acumen

You’ll receive daily coaching and mentoring from our president and senior management to cultivate and refine your talents, bu ild your confidence and assist you in reaching your objectives to ensure you feel proud of your time at YouSwoop. We are committed to supporting your personal and professional goals. You’ll prepare for your future by learning about yourself, developing confidence through overcoming obstacles and working with a team. Building the skills of persistence, dedication, accountability and leadership, you’ll elevate yourself to a marketable professional ready for whatever career you decide to pursue.

You’ll have an opportunity to discuss local Chicago business owners’ marketing goals and how YouSwoop’s model can align with their objectives. Previous intern participants have built long-term relationships with YouSwoop merchants sometimes resulting in employment opportunities with them.

Do you fit the following:

You are a junior or senior in college.

You are majoring in marketing, sales leadership, business, communications or related field.

Knowledge and/or interest in entrepreneurship, research, business, cultural tourism, business development, marketing & advertising

You have rock solid verbal and written communication skills.

Sales/Business Development experience a plus Job Responsibilities:

Assist with identifying and obtaining contracts from local businesses.

Conduct preliminary market research and competitive analysis.

Assist in the development of a business plan for new business development ideas.

Provide support for the development of the tourism and youth initiatives.

Assist in crafting and executing contracts and proposals

Generate communications between YouSwoop and partnering entities.

Provide administrative support to the development department and other departments as needed.

This internship is customized to the intern's schedule. Approximately 15-20 hours per week is required

Letter of recommendation and a college credit will be provided upon successful completion of internship

The internship includes professional development training, opportunities for cross-departmental work to gain broader experience, and special outings to member sites.
