The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Members Present: Eric Smith, Kim Hansen, Brian Eddy, Jennifer Sornson and Gina Trimble. Super- intendent: Russell Reiter and Board Secretary: Laura Morine. APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Han- sen moved to approve the agenda as presented. Sornson second, motion carried 5-0. NEW BUSINESS A. Volunteer/Mentor Program – Val Maximovich presented an update on the district’s Volunteer/Mentor Program. B. Approval of the 2019-2024 Independence Teachers’ Association Master Contract – Eddy moved to approve the five year Teacher’s Master Contract. Hansen second, motion carried 5-0. Supper break was taken at 6:15 till 6:40 pm. C. Closed session/Exempt Session - Eddy moved to go into closed ses- sion as provided in Section 21.5(1) (i) of the Iowa Code; To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputa- tion and that individual requests a closed session as well as an exempt session to discuss negotiations strategies. Hansen second. Roll call vote: Smith -“aye; Sornson – “aye, Trimble – “aye”, Eddy – “aye”, Han- sen – “aye”. Motion carried 5-0 and went into closed/exempt session at 6:42 pm. Board exited closed/exempt ses- sion at 8:55 pm and no official action was taken during the closed /exempt session. D.ADJOURNMENT – Eddy moved to adjourn the meeting. Hansen sec- ond.
