Your Hand OutsYou have each been given a packet of information pertaining to Computing and Software Engineering. This packet includes:• Curriculum Sheets• What to do today• Scheduling worksheet to help you build your schedule• Wait Lists information• Differences between computing majors• Advisor and Coordinator information• Student Groups and Involvement in CSE• 2 Year Plans and DegreeWorks information

Curriculum Sheets• Each major has a curriculum sheet that

includes general education requirements (Areas A-E), major courses, other supporting courses and electives

• These curriculum sheets ARE your graduation requirements – FOLLOW THEM

10

Transfer RegistrationLook at the curriculum sheet for your major. You should also have a sheet that lists the courses you have transferred in.1. Check off any course for which you have transfer credit2. Identify the courses you have left to complete3. If any courses in Area A are unchecked, you should take

them this Fall semester4. If you do not have transfer credit for one or both

programming courses (in Area F), you should also sign up for what you are missing there

Don’t take all core first, think about pre-requisite chains

Programming Classes

• We have 3 versions of programming classes:– CS 1301/1302 – Java based (traditional). CS Majors

MUST take this. It is recommended that IT and SWE majors take this version.

– CSE 1301/1302 – Gaming based (C#). It is recommended that CGDD majors take this version (but it counts for SWE and IT too).

– CSE 1311/1312 – For College of Engineering students ONLY.

Important Tips• Add / Drop versus Withdrawals• GPA and grade forgiveness• Holds• “R” is Thursday• Some classes have lectures AND labs…you must

register for both– Chemistry (CHEM 1211 and CHEM 1211L)– Biology (BIOL 1107 and BIOL 1107L)– Physics (PHYS 1111 and PHYS 1111L)

• PHYS lecture also includes a “recitation” time which is a time set aside to review what was done in the lab

eCore Online Courses

• http://www.kennesaw.edu/ecore/• eCore is another option for some core classes. These are

ONLINE courses.• Take eCore Orientation Quiz BEFORE registering for

eCore Online courses
