Ive had a great response from my first advert in Connection. I have had around 6 calls

and 4 bookings so far and its only been a few days since the magazine has been

delivered. Lisa Hillyard, i-Lipo, Ewell Village

Ive tried several different ways of advertising and leaflet distribution and without any

doubt Connection is the most effective way. It hits my exact target market local people.

Each advert increases my revenue by 15% per week or an increase of about 500

thats a great return on investment on an 88 advert!

Grant Hardy, Hardys Fish & Chips, Burgh Heath

Ive had 12 new customers from my cover page advert that have all booked at least

one session. So the advert has paid for itself many times over, which is great!

    Jodie Blunden, Pokey Feet Reflexology

I have been in Connection magazine for over 2 years now and I have won jobs,

directly from that advert, which amount to 20,000 of profit, not turnover, profit!

Steve Barnett, Carpet care plus, Walton on the Hill

  • It is not often that major changes occurin the area of private client law but theInheritance and Trustees Powers Act2014 was given Royal assent in May thisyear and came into force on 1st October2014. The Act makes changes to the dis-tribution of estates where there is no Will(intestacy) and changes a number ofstatutory provisions which are consideredno longer fit for purpose in the modernworld or have caused difficulties in thepast.

For deaths prior to 1st October 2014 onlyif the deceased had no issue (ie. childrenor grandchildren etc) and no parents, brothers or sisters (or half siblings) wouldthe surviving spouse or civil partner inheritthe entire estate absolutely.

If there are issue, then before the Actcame into force the surviving spousewould only inherit the deceaseds person-al belongings, a fixed sum and an interestfor their lifetime in half of the remainingestate. The other half of the estate wouldgo to the issue absolutely when theyreached the age of 18 years. That factthat the surviving spouse did not inherithalf of the remainder of the estateabsolutely often caused problems as itmeant that some of the deceasedsassets would be held on trust and the sur-viving spouse would not be able to dealwith that part of the estate as theywished. After the Act, instead of only hav-ing the right to benefit from half of theremaining estate for their lifetimes the sur-viving spouse will inherit that half absolute-ly. The remaining half will pass to the issueat 18 as before.

If there are no issue, but there are par-ents or siblings who survive the deceasedthen before the Act the parents wouldinherit one half of the estate and the sur-viving spouse would receive the personalbelongings, a fixed sum and the other halfof the estate. This would mean that the

surviving spouse would have to pay theirparents-in-law (or their deceasedspouses siblings if the parents had prede-ceased) half of the remainder of theestate, which could result in their homehaving to be sold for example. For deathsafter the Act, the gift to any surviving par-ent or sibling has been removed and thesurviving spouse will inherit the entireestate absolutely.

The Act also contains other usefulamendments but does not include provi-sions for cohabitees. This may be a lostopportunity as the number of cohabitingrelationships is predicted to rise fromaround 4.7 million in 2008 to just under 7.6million by 2033. Watch this space!

When it comes toyour stomach its allabout food. Foodplays the biggest role.

Low-carb eating patternshave proven to be

effective for a nice stomach but theyaren't necessarily the answer to all ofyour problems. Strict low-carb dietsreduce your ability to replenish muscleglycogen (the fuel stored inside musclecells) this can make building and maintaining muscle a challenge. Justthink healthy!

Lower abdominal fat is often causedby cortisol, (also known asthe love handles) canbe a sign that you couldbe resistant to the hormone insulin. The pancreas producesinsulin. It is responsible forshuttling glucose (sugar)from your blood cells intothe muscles. When your muscle cells are'full up', the insulin needs to take thesugar out of your blood. It then it stores itin a fat cell which is very often resides inyour love handles and abdomen. Tryreducing sugary and processed carbsyou consume.

Add some green vegetables to yourday, as they have a high nutrient content. Also more dairy so you are get-ting enough calcium. Adding good carbohydrates to your diet that attractfluid and then stays in your stomachlonger than insoluble fibre (like vegeta-bles). Soluble fibre is thought to reduceblood cholesterol by binding with digestive acids made from cholesteroland sending them out of your body.

Now once you eat right try some

workouts for the area. Abdominal and core workouts should

be simple, quick, and effective. A bigproblem people have when trainingabs and core, is their breathing. Youneed to inhale deeply before executingthe movement and then as you crunchor leg raise, blow all of your air out. Thisforces your abdominal muscles to contract. Its not easy for everyone to dothis rhythm, but try to think about pullingin every muscle in your stomach. Youshould then contract your pelvic floorand you will soon get there.

Exercises where you bring your pelvicgirdle towards your torsowhilst remembering yourbreathing, are simple andeffective. These are typesof leg raises. You can dothese in lots of ways, so becreative. Try hanging froma bar, lying down or evenholding your self up on

bars from a bar. Keep your legs straightor bent if this is to hard and then form anL shape with your body in the contracted position. When repeatingexercises like this remember to thinkabout your repetitions, as 10 shouldactually be enough if you do them withperfect technique.

To do a movement for mainly theupper abdominals is to perform a sit-upor crunch. You can do this on the floor oron a bench, standing or also holdingweight. This is where you take your torsoto your pelvic girdle. Be creative.
