system, joints, muscles, and the nervous system. Each system is considered in detail regarding both structure and function.

III. TEACHING METHODOLOGY: Teaching methods utilized in this course will include the use of the textbook, lab manual, problem-based learning, PowerPoints, Mastering A & P, discussion, canvas and internet resources. This class is divided into units. Each unit will include a number of assignments and a test. All of the tests will be taken online and available at the dates/times stated in the schedule. The final exam and lab practical are proctored and timed. You will not be allowed to use anything to assist you in taking these proctored tests. You will use the SmarterProctoring link in Canvas to schedule appointments to take these tests. IF YOU DO NOT TAKE THE PROCTORED TESTS, YOU WILL FAIL THIS CLASS.

IV. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1. The students will demonstrate that they have a basic understanding of the anatomy of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. (Reading comprehension: The student will build vocabulary using context clues, word parts, and analogies). 2. The students will demonstrate that they have a basic understanding of the physiological processes of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems as they relate to maintaining homeostasis. (Reading comprehension: The student will build vocabulary using context clues, word parts, and analogies). 3. The students will demonstrate safe and efficient laboratory techniques. (Reading comprehension: The student will read and follow complex written instructions.) Computation: The student will interpret, manipulate, and apply data accurately from tables, charts, and/or graphs in a manner that demonstrates mathematical methods. .

V. GENERAL EDUCATION LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1. Use standard American English. 2. Read and follow complex written directions. 3. Choose appropriate and effective organizational pattern. 4. Apply mathematical concepts of measurement to solve a variety of real world problems. 5. Perform basic word processing operations including document creation, formatting, printing, saving and of a document.

VI. GRADING EVALUATION: Grades are computed on the basis of scores on tests, assignments, and/or quizzes. The student’s final grade will be weighted as follows:

Unit Discussions: 5% Unit Assignments and Quizzes: 30% Unit Tests: 30% Proctored Lab Practical: 15% Proctored Final Exam: 20%

****A proctored examination is an exam in which you must come to a testing center where a person checks your identity and then allows you to take the exam under supervision. **** The computation of the final grade will be done according to the following scale:

90-100 A

80-89 B

70-79 C

60-69 D

59 or below F

In order to receive an A, B, C, or D in this course, the student MUST REMAIN IN ATTENDANCE THROUGH THE FINAL EXAM TO PASS THE COURSE.

VII. POLICIES: Confidentiality – Refer to pages 36-39, section RECORDS of the 2014-15 catalog. Academic Misconduct – Scholastic dishonesty will not be tolerated. Attendance Policy – Students are expected to attend class. In the online environment, class attendance is vital to successful and satisfactory course work. This course differs from traditional courses in the manner in which attendance is taken. Each week, the student will have multiple assignments and opportunities to interact with both the instructor and other students. Your attendance will be taken by monitoring a student’s participation in class on a weekly basis. In order to be counted present, a student must complete and submit an assignment that is due that week. If a student merely logs in each week but does not submit any course work, that student will be counted as absent for that week. After the second week of inactivity, a student may be administratively withdrawn from this course. Make-Up/Late Submissions Policy – No make-up/ late assignments, quizzes or tests are allowed. The lowest unit assignment/quiz and the lowest unit test grade will be dropped. Exceptions for rare, extraordinary circumstances (i.e. hospitalization) may be made, but require valid proof and instructor approval. If approved, the assignments, quizzes or tests will be for full credit. Course Courtesy – You will need to behave in a professional and courteous manner. This means no slang or improper language should be used in any instance, including but not limited to the discussion board, instant messaging, and emails.
