The house itself is generously proportioned and hugely characterful, and it enjoys this wonderfully peaceful and picturesque setting; it’s a uniquely beautiful family home.”

  • Seller Insight Located on the outskirts of the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed, within the spectacular surroundings of the Snowdonia National Park, is Craig Dinas, an extremely attractive country house that was built in the late 1920s. “My wife

and I purchased the property some twenty-five years ago,” says Ron, “and what initially attracted us to it was quite simply the fact that it ticked so many boxes. The house itself is generously proportioned and hugely characterful, and it enjoys this wonderfully peaceful and picturesque setting; it’s a uniquely beautiful family home.”

“The house was originally built in 1929 for a local businessman, but prior to us taking ownership it had been converted into a small hotel. It was a tad rundown when we came here, but we embraced the opportunity to transform it back into the beautiful country house it once was, and I think we have succeeded in doing just that.”

“When the property was turned into a hotel, the owners had obviously wanted to maximise on bedrooms, but we removed partitions to create much more spacious rooms. We also refurbished the kitchen, which still has country feel, but now incorporates all the mod cons one would expect, and the rest of the house was beautifully redecorated, but in a way that’s wonderfully sympathetic to the style of this lovely old building. We’re very proud of all the work that we have done and the house is now a large but very welcoming and comfortable family home; it’s almost as if it wraps its arms around you as soon as you set foot through the front door.”

“The house is stunning, but it’s without doubt the extensive grounds and the glorious surroundings that set it apart,” continues Ron. “My wife must take all credit for the sheer beauty of the garden as she has lovingly developed it over a number of years. It now incorporates open lawns and mature borders that change throughout the seasons; there are places to sit out and take in these lovely surroundings and we also have a pretty little area of woodland. It’s an outstandingly beautiful environment to live in and the views, well, they are utterly breathtaking and really need to be seen to be believed”

“The sitting room would probably be my favourite,” says Ron. “It’s a very big, but cosy-feeling space, and it has a huge bay window that takes in the views across the valley below.”

“Here we are completely enveloped by natural beauty for as far as the eye can see,” says Ron, “however although we enjoy a good degree of peace and seclusion, we’ve never felt isolated. Betws-y-Coed is a lovely little village with a really good array of shops, and we also have good road links to places such as Bangor, Llandudno and even Manchester.”

“The grounds are absolutely stunning,” says Ron, “and through our wooded area we also have private access into the spectacular Gwydir Forest Park. We can step out of our front door and quite literally walk for miles.”

“Our children have flown the nest so my wife and I have decided to move closer to family, but it will be a terrible wrench to leave Craig Dinas,” says Ron. “I’ll miss this uniquely beautiful setting and the general the feel of the house; it has a personality all of its own. I’m immensely proud of the fact that we’ve succeeded in turning the house back into really beautiful home, but it’s sad to think that we’ll never live in a property quite like it again.”

  • The sitting room would probably be my favourite,” says Ron. “It’s a very big, but cosy-feeling space, and it has a

huge bay window that takes in the views across the valley below.”

  • To the first floor, the spacious galleried landing has a feature window which overlooks the spectacular views through the valley.

There are six bedrooms to this floor, the master bedroom suite having en suite facilities providing shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC. There are also en suite facilities to two other bedrooms and a family bathroom with separate WC.

Leading from the Second Floor Landing are two further rooms and access to the attic space. These rooms could be utilised as bedrooms if necessary.

  • GardensThe gardens at Craig Dinas are a particular feature of the property providing large lawned gardens embracing an extensive range of mature trees, shrubs and specimen plants. There is ample parking and turning space, located near to the house is the detached workshop/garage store.

The overall beauty, maturity and establishment of the external setting cannot be overstated being interspersed with numerous seating areas from which breath taking views over the valley are appreciated. The grounds and gardens extend to approximately 4 acres which include an area of well establish woodlands with rambling paths and gated access to Gwydir Forest tracks. A stream runs through the woodland together with an old stone barn providing useful storage.
