As the Chief Executive Officer of Air Pacific and the Executive Chairman of Tourism Fiji, David Pflieger intends that the two organizations should continue to work closely together in the coming years. Pflieger recently unveiled Air Pacific’s new brand identity. After May of 2013, the Fijian national airline will be called Fiji Airways and will feature new livery with traditional Fijian designs.

Meanwhile, Tourism Fiji has undertaken its own rebranding effort in an attempt to increase Fiji’s profile as a vacation destination. David Pflieger believes that, by working together, the airline and the tourism bureau can provide a major boost to the local economy through increased international tourism. He cites the rollout of new public relations and social media campaigns as well as increased flights to the United States as Fiji Airways phases in its new Airbus 330s. Currently, 63 percent of visitors to Fiji fly on Air Pacific, so any improvements that Pflieger makes to the airline will also improve the overall economy of the island nation.
