Fun week " GREEN GLARES 2018" By M. Vineela, F.Y. B. Sc. (Agri)

From last year, our college began its fun week

tradition with its unique name "Green Glares"

which gives the students a platform to showcase

their talents and enjoy themselves to the fullest

for four days. The kind support of our teachers

and students had brought the event to the level of

success with the utmost fun and enjoyment all

through the programs, which had various

competitions in it. There were four days for our

fun week celebration which we began our

celebration on 14th February. As it was Valentine's

Day we kept our first date to the celebration of

love and togetherness. During this day we

expressed our love for our parents, teachers,

friends and also for our relatives.

1ST Day- Valentine's Day

Since it was our first day, first show, we began our

celebrations with the lighting of the traditional

brass lamp. Then we had ‘dumb charades’ (charade = farce, pantomime, parody, pretence, masquerade )

which was played with mentor-wise groups acting out a phrase. Next, we had ‘Fish Pond’ wherein the

students wrote some few lines about their college friends without revealing the name of either the author

or the target. This was very interesting as we got to know some fun facts about our classmates for which

Vineeta Kaja of F.Y. and Brijesh Phaldessai of S.Y. won the title of ‘Queen Fish’ and ‘King Fish’. Then we

conducted a ‘Campus Quiz’ wherein students were asked questions related to campus. The first day was a

lot of fun!

2nd Day- Characters Day

On this day, we had to imitate any of the characters of our

choice and act accordingly, some of them have acted like,

salesperson, drunkard and also as actors of yesteryears. My

friends Kavita , Krutika Jaggal etc. performed a dance which

was astonishing and added to the charm of the event. We

had many students who entertained us with their

performance and the winners were Brijesh Phaldessai, Sanil

Gaonkar and Akshay Sawant. In the end, we had the

treasure hunt in which the students had to participate along

with their mentors to hunt for the treasure. The

enthusiastic group led by Dr. Rakesh Kawale sir won the

treasure hunt.

3rd Day:- Retro Day

On this day we had to dress up like the people of Golden Era

the 1990s with the fashion of that era. We even had games

with the participation of the teachers, too. The Antakshari

(singing, with the cue from the last syllable of opponent’s

song), dumb charades, etc. It ended with some talent

competitions for students to display their talents like

singing, dancing, monologue and some talents that may

otherwise lie hidden.

4th Day:- Traditional Day

This day all students

were dressed up in the

traditional attire of

different states. It

started with the dance

performances by

students. In between the

dances, a Quiz was

conducted with MCQs

(Multiple Choice

Questions) based on agriculture plus general knowledge. This

was followed by some outstanding dance performances and

then the final quiz. Andrea and her group pipped Shashank and his group by the skin of their teeth. The

last day ended with our Director, Fr. Allwyn D’Souza, guiding all students and encouraging them to

participate in different cultural programs as one can show their hidden talents in cultural activities where

fun and entertainment is unlimited.

Seminar on azolla, hydroponics and fodder production By:- Kavita Pujari (F.Y.)

On 17 Feb a new initiative was taken by ASDS department to spread awareness about azolla and hydroponics fodder

increases fertility but also helps in building high nutrient content in animals and it was made successful by the

presentations of Joyd Simoes, Kavita and Dr. Harshal Wadatkar .

The introduction was given by Joyd about classification of different types of fodders that are found and used in Goa which

includes green fodders, dry fodders, silages, concentrates, feed supplements and feed additives. This was followed by the

presentation of Kavita on scope and importance of azolla as protein supplement and hydroponics for green fodder

Friendship By: Ruth BabySai Maheshvari (F.Y.)

True friends are really bestowed to someone special in the life after hard works. Real friendship is the true relationship of

two or more people where only trust exists without any demand.

Friends are very important in life of everyone as they play a great role in standing by someone in need by giving love, care

and emotional support. Some people successfully carry their childhood friendship through their whole life while some

break in between due to misunderstanding, lack of time or other problems.

Friends can of both types: good and bad. Good friends lead us good path whereas bad friends on bad path. Hence, we

should be careful while choosing friends in life. We need someone special in our life to share our feelings (happy or sad),

to talk to someone, to dispel our loneliness, to make us laugh and make us feel wanted. In the good company of our

friends, we get motivation to do even the impossible things and it becomes easy to tide over bad times cheerfully.
