    learn about needs, wants and

    choices. This lesson uses the 2nd

    Grade Houghton Mifflin Social

    Studies textbook Neighborhoods (p

    160 161).

    E9.2.1- Give examples of what is

    given up when choices are made.

    Make sure each student has atextbook.

    Make copies of choicesworksheet.

    TUESDAYweek#1

    This is the second lesson of a social

    studies unit designed for 2nd

    grade

    students to learn about producers

    and consumers and where people

    make purchases. This lesson uses

    the 2nd

    Grade Houghton Mifflin Social

    Studies textbook Neighborhoods (p

    166 169).

    E9.2.2 Identify consumers andwhere they make purchases.

    Make sure each student has atextbook.

    Write opening question on thewhiteboard.

    Have paper and art suppliesready for project.

    WEDNESDAYweek#1

    This is day three of social studies unit

    designed for 2nd

    grade students to

    learn about goods and services and

    the jobs people have that providegoods and services. This lesson uses

    the 2nd

    Grade Houghton Mifflin Social

    Studies textbook Neighborhoods (p

    172 173).

    E9.2.3 Identify producers in yourneighborhood and community.

    Make sure each student has atextbook.

    Make copies of reading skillsworksheet. Make copies of ticket out the

    door.

    students to review and extend their

    knowledge about producers andconsumers. Students will recognize

    ways that they and their families act

    as each and understand the

    importance of the work done by

    people at home and in the

    community.

    what they want to be when theyget older and talk about the

    profession they have chosen.
