Myanmar is blessed with bio-diversity.A wide array of bio-diversity can be found onsnowcapped mountains in the far northernregion of Myanmar, in the central Yomaforests and the waters of the nation.

The existence of mountains, lands andnatural forests contributes a lot to wildlife, flora and fauna and marine resources.Systematic measures are being taken forconservation of natural resources such asforests, lands and minerals.

Deforestation is a major factor causingglobal climate change. It has resulted in soildeprivation, floods and desertification.

Nowadays, the government is strivingfor conservation of forests in order to bringabout a balanced environment. As a result, there has emerged over 60,000 square milesof reserve forests, protected public forestsand sanctuaries.

In the meantime, efforts are beingmade for greening of Bago Yoma and the aridzone of Upper Myanmar with the extendedestablishment of forest plantations andsanctuaries.

As the government is stepping up itsefforts for greening of 13 districts forests arenow thriving in different parts of the zone.

The public should be well aware ofthe fact that the excessive use of forest productsplus environmental pollution could causeadverse effects on the perpetual existence ofbio-diversity.

Just as natural resources areindispensable for human beings it isincumbent upon the entire national people tocontinue conserving forests, endangeredspecies and flora and fauna. Only then, willthe drive for perpetual existence of naturalresources meet with success.
