Veterans Day Parade

Welcome to our fall Rec Guide! This season, we’re offering a wonderful mix of rec-reational classes and enrichment programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Our senior center is now open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, providing a warm and welcoming place for guests ages 55+ to drop in for friendly conversation and a variety of fun activities. The Steve Miklos Aquatic Center is open for fall lap swim and aquacise programs. The Andy Morin Sports Complex recently added additional hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays, providing more opportunities to drop in and enjoy the use of batting cages, sports courts, table tennis, and more.

The "Body of Art" exhibit continues through September 30 at the Gallery at 48 Natoma, and the new "Found in Nature" exhibit opens October 8. The gallery will host a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 15 to showcase the featured artists.

The very popular open-air Folsom Glass Pumpkin Patch event returns from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 9 and 10 on the grounds of the Folsom Art Center, at 48 Natoma Street. This year's event promises to be spectacular, with thousands of hand-blown glass pumpkins, acorns, feathers, apples, snails, flowers, and other unique items for sale – all created by talented glass artists from 16 studios. Proceeds from this event benefit Folsom Parks & Recreation’s community arts education pro-grams at the Folsom Art Center.

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Fall is the perfect time to visit—the cooler weather encourages the ani-mals to be more active and visible in their enclosures. Make sure to join us for Howl-O-Ween October 30—come in costume and enjoy a fun family event.

We so appreciate you playing with us and I always look forward to your input and feedback. Please feel free to reach out to me with your ideas or thoughts.

Best regards,

INCLUSION SERVICES: The City of Folsom encour-ages and supports the participation of individuals of all abilities in meetings, facilities, activities, and programs. These soccer-themed motor skill classes are very easy for youngsters to get into. Younger age groups focus on developing motor skills and self-confidence; older classes focus more on developing core soccer skills and personal focus, and introduce an ele-ment of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to maximize individual development, and above all else we promote fun, fun, fun! Parent participation encouraged!

Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary

About the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary Since 1963, the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary has been dedicated to enriching the lives of the animals living at the sanctuary facility.

This is not your typical zoo! Our rescued domestic and wild animals come to live here for a variety of reasons: they’re orphaned, have sustained life-threatening injuries, were illegal or discarded pets, or were victims of abuse or neglect. Our animal residents include black bears, cougars, and other native species, as well as exotic species like tigers and kinkajous. The zoo sanctuary provides a caring, forever home for these amazing creatures.

Our educational focus is to promote responsible and appropriate behavior toward all animals. Learn more about us at www.folsom.ca.us.
