2. YEREVAN HIGHLIGHTS The 8th ‘GOLDEN APRICOT’ International Film Festival -one of the most significant cultural events in Yerevan was held from 10 to 17 July, 2011. This year the festival had an enlarged geography of participants from different countries. In International Feature Film Competition the award went to “Nader and Semin, the Separation” by the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi. The Silver Apricot prize was awarded to “The Journals of Musan” by Park Jungbum. The Special Jury Prize was given to “The Prize” by Paula Markovitch.

On this occasion Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan was awarded with a special prize for the strong and long partnership with the Golden Apricot International Film Festival. Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan over the editions has hosted many worldwide famous personalities: Claudia Cardinale, Fanny Ardant, Atom Egoyan, Serge Avedikian, Nurdan Arca, Gokce Ovgu, Malcolm Darch and Alain Terzian.The 8th edition of the festival was organized with the sponsorship of VivaCell-MTS corporation and the Ministry of Culture of RA; the Embassies of the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Brazil and Russian Federation, as well as a large number of international organizations have become traditional partners of Golden Apricot Film Festival.

Vatel International Hospitality School opening in Yerevan on July 2011 The presentation of the 1st European Hospitality School in Yerevan took place at Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan. Vatel is an International Hospitality Business and Tourism Management School, which trains managers for the hospitality and tourism industry. The branch of Vatel Europe, founded 25 years ago, is recognized by top repre-sentatives of the hotel industry. The teaching concept is the right balance between academic theory and professional practice. Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan was chosen as the exclusive training hotel in Yerevan for students at Vatel.

Armenia VS Denmark: women”s football match on September 2011

The Danish women's national football team visited Armenia on the occasion of the FIFA Women's World Cup Qualification. Danish women’s team won Armenia: 1:0. The Danish women’s team chose Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan as their preferred hotel in Armenia and left a positive comment on the hotel guestbook regarding the stay.

The star, who has just reached one million fans on the web, preferred the central located Golde Tulip Hotel Yerevan and the event has bee a success...World famous musician, composer and pianist Yanni came to Armenia for the first visit. The musician and his group were hosted at Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan. Yanni gave concert at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex on September 23. During the evening he was performing his instrumental hits famous around the world. For the first time ever, during the live show Yanni performed music from his new album “Truth of Touch”.

Worldwide famous singer Lara Fabian was hosted by Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan and performed in concert on 18 March, 2011 in Karen Demirchyan Sports & Concert Complex. The concert was organized by Bal and E-production in the framework of Franco-phonie Days in Armenia, cultural initiative of the French Embassy in Armenia and Ministry of Culture of RA.

Armenia VS Macedonia football matchon October 2011

In the framework of European Championship 2012, Armenia National football team met Macedonia team on 7 October. Armenia team has defeated Macedonia 4-1 at Yerevan Republi-can Stadium. As a result, Armenia has got good chances for second place in the group and access to the play-offs for the final tournament of European Championship 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.Macedonia team stayed at Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan. This is not the first time that National Teams have chosen the high quality services of the Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan.

Marketing Guru Professor Philip Kotler in Yerevan on the occasion of the Great Marketing Week

First visit of the Marketing Guru Mr. Philip Kotler in Armenia. The program “Philip Kotler in Armenia: 11.11.11” was an initiative promoted by the Armenian Marketing Association. The world famous Marketing Guru Mr. Philip Kotler visited Armenia on November 13-17. “Development prospects of Marketing in the region” was organized for about 25 international organizations from different countries as Iran, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and Geor-gia. Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan and Best Western Congress Hotel hosted Mr. Philip Kotler and sponsored the most important event of the marketing week: the CEO Forum where were invited the CEO of Yerevan major companies.

SunChild 3rd International Environmental Festival

SunChild Festival was established in 2007 by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). The festival is a biennal event and the only environmental festival in the entire South Caucasus region. SunChild 3rd International Environmental Festival was organized from October 14 - 18, 2011. The festival took place at different venues along Yerevan city centre.

Fish Carpaccio by Executive Chef Antonio Lostumbo

A cuisine master class was organized in Rossini Restaurant in coop-eration with Yerevanresto on September 26th. Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan Italian Executive Chef presented a light summer dish which is one of the novelties of Rossini restaurant menu. In a lively and professional atmosphere, the chef prepared a traditional Italian antipasto with Armenian trout instead of sea fish which Chef Antonio usually uses in his motherland. The neces-sary ingredients of this Italian with Armenian hint Carpaccio are cucumbers, lemon, lime, olive oil and black currant.

The week of Italian Cuisine: 2nd edition

Within the frames of “The Week of Italian Cuisine” the Chef Luigi Mandruzzato was invited to present a master class to the Chefs of the most famous restaurants in Yerevan. The theoretical part of the master class took place in the Grand Oval Hall in Golden Tulip Hotel Yerevan. The Chef Luigi taught the Chefs the right cuisine techniques necessary to prepare some world famous Italian dishes: tortellini, spaghetti, risotto.

Megerian family from New York engaged in buying, selling and restoration of carpets during four generations, since 1917. In the same year Megerian Rugs Company was founded.
