Of course, the wind is a major factor, but soare the dominating sand dunes and craftygreens. Don’t look at your score, just playmatchplay and enjoy.

There are over 70 carefully positioned bunkers.Despite their size they can be easily seen fromthe tees and fairways, and are in the most partsteep and revetted. This is a lively and cleverlydesigned course.

On the first and last holes there are waterditches which come into play for the approachshot. As the course runs outward parallel tothe pebble beach, this can present quite aproblem - as the sea wall and beach areintegral parts of the course.

nevertheless a sensation. They created, from amountainous collection of dunes, amasterpiece which became the first courseoutside Scotland to host the OpenChampionship in 1914.

The holes are very tough and strength andaccuracy is essential on the Par-fours. Thecarries can sometimes be long so choose asensible tee.

with a micro climate, Littlestone isone of the driest places in theBritish Isles.

This leads to some wonderful variations ofground and "lies" for your ball. Once on thegreens you will find they are probably thetruest greens on any links. Although much ofthe course is below sea level, there are somespectacular views from the high spots.

All the holes are very different and memorable.Royal St. George’s features thatched roofshelters, the red cross of St George on theflags and the infamous bunker on the 4th holewhich is cut in to a huge dune making it theUK’s deepest and tallest bunker....So don’t goin!

The lunch and Whisky Mac in the clubhouseare well deserved.

Prince’s offers all that is best in modern linksgolf and the centrally-located clubhouse allowsfor easy access enabling the course to beplayed in three loops of nine holes.

The three nine-holes are called Shore,Himalayas and Dunes with the mostinteresting combination being Shore-Himalayasas it embraces most of the original layout. Thecourse is famed for its deep and unforgivingbunkers and cross winds off the EnglishChannel. Take your favourite wood and be sureto hit the fairways, otherwise you’re in for atough round.

This is on every golfer’s tick list.

Following the slopes, ridges and mounds of thegorgeous landscape, the course is easy to walkand very easy on the eye – particularly the backnine. Take the challenge on from the back andyou’ll deserve a pint or two, play off theforward tees and it’s a nice game for even thenovice player.
